Ridiculous. If you are a woman surely similar incidents have happened to you? I can't even count the number of inappropriate and scary things that happened to me as a young woman. You really find this so hard to believe? That a privileged young partier thought he could do these things and it would be no big deal? It was just "rough horseplay", not like he raped someone. Right?

I am a woman, a moderate Democrat, and was sexually assaulted in college but that does not mean I have to believe every single other woman who claims she was, especially under these circumstances and all the embarrassing stunts my party has pulled the last couple months. Six FBI investigations and none of this ever came out. If he was the person many of you think he is at a bare minimum there would have been hints, rumors, suggestions, something that would have made the FBI investigate further and uncover something.

You are woefully uniformed about how background checks are conducted. They primarily look for shady sources of money and foreign contacts. They interview character witnesses provided by applicants (usually don’t say anything bad), along with interviewing colleagues and neighbors. None of these individuals would even know about incidents in high school or college.

Correct.
The FBI conducts thousands of background checks - they're not going to delve deeply into every single one unless there are grounds to elevate it to something more serious. Which there now are.

I can’t believe Brett Kavanaugh is the hill some of you cretins want to die on. Good God. I’m sure his wife, if she has had the sense the Lord gave a goose, is begging him to withdraw his name and end this as a story for the likes of Farrow and Meyer to continue exploring. Every single person they have profiled to date has at minimum lost his job, and/of been charged (Weinstein, Schneiderman, Moonves).

McConnell and McGahn need to step in. It's not like Trump will pull out. And clearly Kavanaugh won't either. He's brilliant, and political, as his testimony demonstrated. He dedicated his life to this goal, and did amazing, and was days away. It's impossibly hard. But he has to get out of the spotlight now.

There are a lot of people sticking up for him -- and he owes it to them to let them off the hook. He owes it to his poor family, who would be forever changed by a hearing. And he owes it to his spot on the DC bench, at Harvard, and in all the circles he hopes to still move within.

It's indecent at this point. It's not all his fault. GOP, CRC, Federalist Society - the many ways they have botched the past week would be hilarious if it wasn't so depressing. Trying to speed up the hearing to beat Mayer & Farrow. Ventry. Whelan. Senators using 280 characters and Fox hits to fit every toe they can into their mouths. All this before Avenatti showed up.

Midterms are exactly 6 weeks away.

Amy Coney Barrett is ready. She is from nowhere near Bethesda. She is almost a decade younger. And yes, she is a She.

301 is done. Time to do 312.

WHINEEEEEEEEEE. STEEEEPPP DDDDOOOOWNNNN

Please proceed with Amy Barrett, it will take another few months and she won’t be confirmed either.

This. Once Ronan has you in his crosshairs it’s game over.

I'm sure she raped little boys 30 years ago anyway.

Because they are the "good guys", the Christian right. Their proclaimed innocence depends on standing up and denying. Withdrawal means a tacit acknowledgement that the man is guilty.
Just like Roy Moore.

The only scary thing that happened to me was a sexual molestation at 13, and I told someone immediately. I was trapped in the man's house 3000 miles from home (visiting a family friend). He said his religion made me fair game when I said I was only 13. Other than that? Afraid not.

And even WITH that molestation, I do NOT believe these women simply because of my experience. That would be a highly illogical leap and would amount to an emotional smearing of an individual man's reputation. I DO now understand that certain religions look at women differently than others. Not every man, however, of that religious persuasion, would make the same decision my molester did.

That's horrible. I am sorry it happened to you.

Despite the weirdly dismissive tone of your post, surely you understand that we have an epidemic of sexual assault in this country. In this world. Not just against women and girls, but also against boys and even 3% of men.

I don't know you but your cavalier attitude towards what Ford said and even what happened to you strikes me as very odd. Almost like you don't want to believe that what happened to you happens all the time.

Please do not ignore Jane Meyer in these stories. While Ronan is a prodigy and has done some excellent reporting, I would like us not to ignore Jane has done half the work. She deserves equal credit.

This all sets a very dangerous precedent. You don’t like a nominee? Scream #MeToo. You don’t like a pick for an administration position? Scream #MeToo.
I hope he does not withdraw because all the liberals here would say, “See, guilty as charged.” He needs to fight these charges. These women should be charged for making false allegations.

Ronan Farrow has destroyed his reputation with this poorly sourced story. Avenatti was slimy to begin with. This only makes him less credible, which is a good thing.

It is all sketchy. And, it will be interesting to see if Dr. Ford appears on Thursday. It is clear now that this was a delay tactic.

This is interesting.

Stacy Washington is reporting that her FB posts are being dug up (internet is forever folks) and In March of 2017, Christine Blasey Ford posted on Facebook that someone needed to come forward an accuse Gorsuch of rape to derail his SCOTUS nomination. She further said such accusations should continue until Trump nominates Merrick Garland

And, her reputation is shot now too.

BK is not the hill I want to die on. Pushing back against how the liberal Democrats have handled this whole process is the hill I am willing to die on. Liberals would have done this to anyone Trump nominated to replace Kennedy. Anyone. Trump could have nominated Mother Theresa and liberals would have dragged her through the mud. And for the record, I think what the Republicans did to Garland was wrong too. But this has sank to a new level of low that disgusts me. I don't know if I will ever be able to vote for a Democrat again and I am a currently a registered Democrat.

I agree. Time to #WalkAway.

There were many hints, suggestions and rumors. There were in 2006 when he was initially confirmed.
