A big reason why there's no answer to ending this war (or solving anything else for that matter). Trump lies about everything. He backs out of every "deal". He attacks in the middle of a negotiation. He's probably the most untrustworthy negotiator on the planet.

That worked for him when he was negotiating with a string of powerless contractors in one-off interactions. But now he's negotiating with equals in repeated interactions.

Maybe he should threaten to sue Iran for a billion dollars.

Negotiating and bullying Joe's plumbing on bathroom remodel at a casino is much different than negotiating with world leaders. Trump is in over his head. The scariest part is, as usual, he thinks he is the smartest person in every room he walks into.

The US military doesn’t decide geopolitical strategy. Every general knows that 12 days of an air campaign does not change a country the size of Alaska with 93 million people. And they can tell you that shutting down the Strait of Hormuz was an obvious consequence of attacking Iran, which is very difficult to counter with air power alone.

The problem is that the US government is run by politicians who are idiots. We have a president who was absolutely played by Israel. Not much the military can do about that. Senior leadership told Trump what was likely to happen. And Trump did it anyway.

The only way this ends is when Trump and MAGA are no longer controlling the white house and military, a new president basically apologies the the world and we taxpayer spend a trillion dollars in reparations.

UN says that 3.2 million Iranian people have been displaced and migrating north. What country will absorb these people.

What happens if a two or three front war opens up? If China takes Taiwan, North Korea invade South Korea and Russia invades Poland or the Baltic states at the same time? Can the US logistics function?

Unfortunately, the following would happen:

Taiwan would hold off the Chinese for weeks or months.

Same for the South Koreans.

Japan would dive in head first defending both of them.

And Europe would Vichy.

Historically, logistics is what wins wars. Hegseth and his ilk think it's manliness and big guns and have slashed infrastructure and logistics.

The US is much weaker thanks to Trump.
