2021 VA Governors race

Youngkin has my vote. The proposed education changes are ridiculous. Virginia should remain a right to work state and we do not want public sector union bargaining. The Democrats are going way too far. There is no need to pattern Virginia state government after California or New York.

I also want to hear more about his stance on gun control, or probably lack thereof because he’s a Republican. But it’s an important issue to me.

Likewise, I’d feel a lot warmer toward Terry and the other Democrats if they were stronger on school reopening and other education issues. I want them to dump all the VMPI nonsense. Never thought we’d be in a place in this state where Republicans seem to care more about schools and public education, but here we are.

All of this. I'm going to hold my nose for Youngkin. I cannot handle further slides to the left so I think we need to balance the scales. I'm worried about VMPI and 5 day schooling. So I'll vote R at the top but keep my D state sen, who I think is doing a good job. I'd never vote R in a federal election but Ds have failed to get the state reopened and moving again. And I want Youngking to fire the entire VMPI commission. And no, I won't tell my friends and neighbors about the vote for fear of judgement, but I have a sneaking suspicion that many will be of the same mind in the voting booth

Same here. What the Democrats in VA at the local and state election have done to public education over the past two years tells me more than trying to parse Youngkin's various statements about the Biden presidency ever will. I absolutely despise the FCPS School Board and am not willing to wait until 2023 to start punishing the Democratic establishment types who inflicted them on us.

Who is the AG candidate? The Dem AG filed a lawsuit against Loudoun County Public Schools as being racist because the outcomes were different between races.

The Youngkin campaign has been trolling this board hard, popping up in all kinds of threads. "I had a bad day so I'm voting for Youngkin." Their social media team must have a volunteer who enjoys DCUM.

I can't fathom how so many posts on this thread are saying they like McClellan (who I'm voting for too!) but as a second choice they'll vote for Youngkin. They're opposites. It's like saying you want Warren and if you can't have her you'll vote for Trump.

I mean, the macker is gonna win this 57-43.

Gonna get in on this action but I’m thinking 55-45.

56-44. But Youngkin will get excited for 15 minutes when he’s temporarily leading.

Terry. I hope he wins but in a close race.

Ds got way too comfortable on education and jumped off the cliff to the left on that. People are very concerned we are at a teetering point on it.

“[Youngkin] also said he would support rolling back gun-control legislation passed by Democrats last year after they took control of the House of Delegates and state Senate. Those measures include a “red flag” law intended to take weapons away from people deemed by a judge to be in imminent danger of harming themselves or others. Others restrict handgun purchases to one per month and require criminal background checks for all firearms sales.”

From today’s Post article. Youngkin stands for election integrity (supporting conspiracy theories about our election), no safe gun restrictions, and abortion restrictions. He has no experience, is super wealthy but claims he pulled himself up by his bootstraps (did he get a scholarship to the tony private school he attended?).

I don’t love some of the educational decisions made by thr School Board but I will not put those local issues above the many issues that are actually in the Governor’s purview.

Our economy is doing great with Dem control despite the pandemic. Our country is in danger of losing our democracy through coordinated efforts to overturn election results and replace bureaucratic control of election process with partisan legislative control.

If you’re mad at the School Board, sign recall petitions and don’t vote for them again. I know Qarni won’t be favored to stay as VDOE secretary no matter which Democrat wins. VDOE has already pulled back from changes so keep up the pressure there. There is no need to cede our state to anti-democrats who want no common sense restrictions on guns.

McAuliffe only got 48% of the vote the last time he ran, and that was with a Libertarian pulling 6.5% of the vote away from the Republican, Ken Cuccinelli.

McAuliffe is toast if he's the nominee.
