And that's why they are totally unnecessary and shouldn't be allowed in summer swim. It's a psych out rich kids try to play.

You’re making a bigger deal of it than it’s worth. Swimming is a “rich” kids sport anyways. You have to have enough money to join a pool, then join a team. A kneeskin isn’t going to make a difference between the haves and have nots. I can find one online for $50. Our team suit is $55.

My guess is that in swimming, it’s very concrete as to who is the best/fastest on the team, unlike field sports. Stop trying to find excuses as to why others are faster than your kids. It’s giving your children a complex and your anxiety about it will rub off on them.

Your guess sucks. Some teams have clear totem poles and some have many kids bunched within .5 sec of each other.

My child is the fastest in their age group on our team in every event but breaststroke, but not by a lot. I would be mortified if someone beat my child’s time by a tenth of a second and then my child resorted to wearing a kneeskin in order to pass the other swimmer that earned the top spot in a training suit.

Can you please link that $50 kneeskin? I have never seen one that inexpensive.

Team suits are expensive for what they are! You pay full price plus a premium. Anybody can find a training suit for $25 any day.

I find my daughter’s kneeskins on EBay and PoshMark. Here’s one:
https://ebay.us/m/ZLkq40

I have never bought anywhere else. She wears them during club season and at divisionals/all stars. We have two so we have a backup if one rips. I got both for $103 total on EBay.

ETA: and I only buy new with tags

You cannot with a straight face use one janky eBay store selling one tiny size kneeskin and say everyone can find a one for $50.

Countryside Bargains- we all use that shop to buy our iPhone accessories and kneeskin bathing suits! Get real. Your situation is a fortuitous one-off.

Sorry you aren’t as resourceful! My child is 12. She has swum with Arena Powerskin 12U kneeskins at every PVS Champs and NCSAs since she started making them at age 9. It does take a parent who is organized and plans well, though. In any event, as I say to my law students, don’t make a claim without adequate citation, and don’t make a negative claim to a lawyer. It’s too easy to find the opposite example. Good luck!

I believe someone “linked that $50 kneeskin” below your post. And then you tried to shift the argument to “no way everyone can find one for $50.” Grow up, and try to resist being a mean girl.

At the end of the day, it is your prerogative to put your child in a knee skin. Just know that their peers are most likely making fun of them, especially if they are wearing them on a Monday night. And parents may not be making fun of your kid because that would be mean but they are certainly making fun of you for being crazy.

You provided a bad faith citation and speak as it’s gospel- kneeskin Charlie Kirk. We’re talking about hundreds (thousands?) of kids and you cited one single swimsuit. There is not a chance that everyone will find the anomaly that you found.

I used to be an eBay seller, mostly apparel and accessories. Most of what you find on eBay, even new with tags, is from a thrift store. Some items are truly deals. Most are in some way damaged, which is why they were unable to be sold by reputable retailers, and donated in the first place.

Not the head coach. Just an age group coach.

Fox Hunt’s head coach is the Sea Devils head coach at South Run. Their team rep is an age group coach.

I have nationally ranked club swimmers and buy tech suits brand new for half the price on eBay. You certainly can find a kneeskin for cheap.

This is how a lot of sellers sell items “new with tags”

What a weird tangent for this thread to go down. Out of curiosity, I typed the word "kneeskin swimsuit" into Google and got dozens of returns for suits under $100 from sites like swimoutlet, swim2000, and even Speedo. Seems like there are options for kneeskins that aren't breaking the bank and not just a one-off thrift store find.

This is so lazy. Yes, the speedo website has vanquishers for $70. But not in the sizes that any of our children would wear. It’s like saying you can get air Jordans for $50 because Nike has Air Jordan baby booties show up on your Google search.

And the crazy continues. Sorry I didn't do your shopping for you. Swimoutlet has girls Powerskin for $74 in a size 20. A size 20 equates to a 29" chest, 21" waist, 31.5" hip, and 51.5" torso. You can order it by placing it in your cart, selecting pay with credit card and then putting in your personal information.

If you prefer, you can also order the TYR Fusion 2 for $91. That is in sizes 22-38 so hopefully one of those will fit a size a child would wear.

Speedo site has the vanquesher for $70. They have it in sizes 16, 18, 32, 34, and 36.

Swim2000 has the Nike Hydra in sizes 22, 24, 28, 30, 32 for $52.

The lazy (and the crazy) here is you.

That their club team needed to be good with them not being able to attend club practices since she love summer swim practices. Also apparently not meeting club attendance requirements during the year due to other sports. That they need to deal with it because they needed her because she can make JOs and if they don't like her lack of commitment NCAP would kill to have her.

It was honestly kind of shocking and insane. The tone was crazy. I think the parents he was talking to were just floored by the hubris.

The kid is 10. Lot of kids make JOs at that age and then drop by 14 or 15, it means nothing. I feel sorry for their club and summer coaches.

Not arguing with your point, because I agree about the fall off, but to the kid at age 10, it means so much. Let’s stop denigrating the hard work young swimmers do — and the meets they make/accolades they get — when they are young just because it may not/does not equate to the same level of success when they go through puberty. This is especially true for those of us with Asian or part-Asian children. Lots of earned success in 12U, but puberty often is not kind to swimmers
who have Asian genes.

Puberty is not kind to Asians??? 😂😂😂😂 please!!

You don’t understand how this works or girls sizes.

-if Nike suits were any good, people would wear them. Nobody has ever bought a Nike racing suit. Nice try.

-Those vanquisher sizes are the ones that won’t fit your kids. But silver lining, they will fit a 200 lb, fully grown woman.

-TYR fusion for $91 is a whole lot closer to the around $100 that I mentioned this morning than the $50 that crazy lady mentioned.

-The first powerskin I bought my average size 9 year old was a size 24, so size 20 is going to fit 8 & unders. But please link that one for any of the 7 year-old parents that are thiiiis close to making that first A meet.
