Here you are on the **Fairfax County Public Schools** board talking about the impact on test scores and teacher attention of taking kids out of their classrooms and throwing them in detention centers. You want to target illegal immigration? Your perpetrators are Tyson’s and Purude, who not only employ undocumented workers, let children as young as 13 work in conditions so bad they result in the loss of limbs, which of course is totally illegal but what is an undocumented kid supposed to say about it. But I bet you would be thrilled to have the CEO of Tyson’s invite your kid over. |
No, they’re not. The government assessed that half of all farm workers were undocumented and about 15% of all construction workers. I’m sorry you’re struggling to afford help at home but this isn’t going to stick it to your more fortunate neighbors. |
You must be unaware of the gangs that have infiltrated Fairfax county and surrounding areas. But here you are arguing to keep them here because they procreated. |
This is such a stupid argument. Fairfax County, which has solidly been voting for Democrats for a very long time, has a ton of illegal immigrants. What farms are they working on and sending their kids to FCPS? What chicken plants are they working in and sending their kids to FCPS? Our illegal immigrant neighbors around here are most certainly working as nannies, housekeepers, and landscapers, hired by solid blue voters in Fairfax County. That is true all over the DMV but since we're just talking FCPS, I'll leave it there. |
I’ve lived in Fairfax under three presidents and every time heard how there’s a horrible gang problem and never once heard a suggestion that deporting children would help. |
In Fairfax I imagine the largest employer is construction, and the disincentive to cracking down has been our historically high housing costs. |
The construction industry will be hit hard with these mass deportations, not just in TX but everywhere https://www.npr.org/2024/11/23/g-s1-35465/trump-deportation-migrants-immigrants-texas-construction-industry-border-security |
Well your imagination isn't really reliable as a source of data. Do you have a link to share that show construction is where they work. Our housing costs are high because we live next to the biggest employer in the US. |
So you are suggesting that we separate the American born children of these gang members from their parents? Or should they stay together in the parents home country? Won't our kids shun us for ripping their friends out of the classroom?? |
Chamber of Commerce propaganda. American men will work in construction. |
Construction should be a living wage. |
It’s a figure of speech. The federal government estimates that 15% of the construction workers country-wide are undocumented. Given the amount of construction in this area it’s a logical connection to who is employing undocumented workers. |
They don’t now. Why do you think that’s likely to change? |
I’m suggesting someone concerned with gang violence supports deporting gang members, not children. This is a thread to salivate over the prospect of deporting children so privileged white children don’t have to share their classrooms. |
Maybe the immediate post is partly in jest.. But no, your kids won't "shun" you. Perhaps you could use it as a teaching moment to encourage your own kids to know and obey the laws they live under. Put another way: the American-born children of these 'gang members" should not be used as anchor babies to keep their criminal parents in our country. They could bring their kids to their own country, which might be better for all concerned. If they go to jail for their crimes here, we end up paying for both the incarceration of the parents and the basic needs of the children. By the way, children of US-born criminals get separated from their parents too; it's an unfortunate part of the criminal lifestyle. |
