Eh, I voted Dem up until this election. I’m sick of the leftist school board and my compassion well has run dry. It’s been used up on all the F’ing equity bs.

You’re talking about detaining and deporting children from the only homes they’ve known. Respectfully, I don’t think this was a particularly deep well at the outset.

Nah, they can all go together.

Yeah? We can deport U.S. citizens with their non-citizen family members? What a great insight into the depths of your “compassion”

If the parents committed the crime of entering illegally and have a child who is a citizen, the compassionate thing to do is to pay for the child to be transported with the parents and keep the family together.

Americans who commit crimes go to jail, whether they have children or not and no one cries about "don't separate the family!"

In the case that their citizen children have other family who are citizens willing to care for them, that is an option the parents can use. That's what happens to Americans. They commit crimes and their children go to aunt, grandpa, or cousin if both parents are jailed. We don't allow them to remain free and untouched because they have children.

And if the children aren’t legal citizens of the first country, having been born in the United States? You think the U.S. should pay for individuals to commit crimes?

Look, when you guys were talking about people committing crimes, I had sympathy for your views. If you were talking about the appalling conditions in meat packing factories which are allowed to persist because undocumented workers don’t have recourse to complain about them, I’d think you had a really good point.

But you’re talking about ripping kids out of classrooms and putting them in detention centers. I hope your children are proud of you.

We're not making that choice. The parents made that choice when they came here. They can return to their home country at any time and attempt return legally.

See this is MAGA~no empathy, no kindness...just a lot of hate and greed. Jesus would be so proud

What greed? What hate?

Expecting laws to be followed is showing lack of empathy? You sound unhinged.

Expecting infants or toddlers to “obey laws” is what’s unhinged. That’s who is in schools with your kids now. Not people who knowingly broke any laws coming here. That’s who you’re being asked to show empathy for.

We expect the parents to obey the laws dingbat. If you're here illegally, better get your affairs in order. The gravy train is shutting down.

The gravy train is that is that being run by rich white people. Shut that down, and you shut down the reason for illegals to come to this country, because there is not enough work otherwise. Make it a felony with a 10 year prison sentence to employ illegal immigrants, and actually enforce it by sending a bunch of rich white people to prison, and employment opportunities for illegal immigrants will dry up quick.

If you hire illegals you should also use e-verify so you don’t provide money to the “illegals”

If a practicing physician or Uber driver can be locked up for helping a woman get an abortion, why not lock up those who hire illegals?

Yup, a very effective way to handle illegal immigration is already available but rarely enforced. Employers are expected to e-verify but they don’t and no one comes after them. Why are all of you who salivate over mass deportations not pressing for employer accountability?

+1. People are coming here because they can get jobs. Maybe not the kinds of jobs most of us would be willing to do, but they're getting paid and there's almost always work in any city or town for able bodied people who are willing to get their hands dirty. If they were unable to get jobs, they wouldn't come. Sure, some of the big agriculture giants and hotel chains occasionally get fined because they didn't e-verify but the penalties are minimal, and even less so for the smaller businesses that pay under the table and no one really knows about. Start locking up the CEOs who are in charge of these places and you'd see changes overnight.

We can be empathetic, but we don’t need to reward the parents for illegal behavior because they have children. They can be deported with the parents.

You care about them only if they are in the uterus.

You can? There’s no evidence of it here. You don’t want to target criminals, agribusinesses, not even gangs. This thread is about wanting people who had no say in coming here dragged out of your child’s classrooms and detained and deported. Truly I hope you’re either a bot or deeply ashamed.

Do you realize criminals and gang members here illegally also have American children? Should we let them stay because their children would also be ripped out of the classroom?

Just because you draw an arbitrary line in the sand of who you think is worthy of staying doesn't mean you're right and anyone who disagrees is wrong/heartless. It's actually more fair to follow the law and send everyone back, man, woman and child.

I can't even with the sanctimony of people like the PP. Countries are allowed to have borders. Seems LWNJs really think the U.S. should be open to anyone, regardless of our laws. Really boggles the mind, but I'm glad voters made a clear statement that this is NOT what most people want.

You silly nitwit. The border bill that Republicans put forth (H.R.2) specifically made E-Verify *mandatory*. Democrats voted against that bill in favor of one that was completely watered down, so as to be more "palatable" to the left. Funny the things you choose to deliberately ignore.

DP. I'd be perfectly fine with that. Liberal families are the biggest employers of illegal immigrants - nannies, housekeepers, landscapers, etc.

We can be empathetic, but we don’t need to reward the parents for illegal behavior because they have children. They can be deported with the parents.

You can? There’s no evidence of it here. You don’t want to target criminals, agribusinesses, not even gangs. This thread is about wanting people who had no say in coming here dragged out of your child’s classrooms and detained and deported. Truly I hope you’re either a bot or deeply ashamed.

DP. What? That's exactly what we all want - anyone with a shred of common sense, that is. What are you even talking about?

Damn I thought it was farmers, construction companies, meat/chicken industry, restaurants. Are all of those people liberal, PP?

Do you realize criminals and gang members here illegally also have American children? Should we let them stay because their children would also be ripped out of the classroom?

Just because you draw an arbitrary line in the sand of who you think is worthy of staying doesn't mean you're right and anyone who disagrees is wrong/heartless. It's actually more fair to follow the law and send everyone back, man, woman and child.

So you are good with Elon being deported because he was here illegally?

So you support Stephen Miller's denaturalization plans. It's so great when we can find common ground!
