I think Trump will deport the criminals who are here illegally but that will be it. Our economy would suffer big time without immigrants to do the jobs Americans won’t touch.

I had 2 deported last year and their parents were criminals. I was told they can never come back.

Yes, criminals were already being deported. The American people voted for a much larger effort to deport more illegal residents, and some support going after naturalized and birthright citizens too (if they agree with Stephen Miller). Whether or no Trump can find the billions of dollars necessary to do this and the competence (when he didn’t even build his wall last term) remains to be seen.

I recently looked up how much wall was built and the most factual answer seemed to be about 50 new miles and 450 renovated. After all that jawing.

We'll see teenagers who aren't being parented, because their parents are gone, and thus an increase in gang activity.

Plus our economy will tank without a segment of the labor force, so there will be less money for schools and classroom ratios will go through the roof.

They can just take their kids with them. Wouldnt that make more sense than abandonment?

They will most likely leave their kids with relatives and they’ll be back.

If it actually happens, and there is an impact to the schools by reducing the number of ESL students, then nice liberal parents who are using those schools because they couldn't afford to move or private, will say out loud how sad and awful it is , but secretly they will be happy and thrilled that their school scores will go up and there will be more time and attention for their kid.

Obama still holds the record for most deportations, I highly doubt Trump will pass him.

BS campaign promises will not impact anything - even deportation. That is not even up for debate.

IANAL. What kind of suit/case (not sure of the correct term) would bring Plyler's underlying question back to SCOTUS? Is it just as simple as a district refuses to enroll an alien child, an organization sues on the child's behalf, and it goes up the chain?

I don’t think you understand that for profit prison stock went up hearing if the deportation calls. They will round up and house thousands. To make money. It is sick and reprehensible. I work in a title 1 school and fear for students and their families

This exactly. He is an expert grifter conman

This is what I am hoping. Go after criminals. That is good for everyone. There is plenty to address there. If they are hardworking and care about community and this country, find a path to citizenship.

How is this determined? Is there a measurable amount/type of "hard work" or "care" that should enable someone to stay in the US?

Most of the kids are US citizens, so it makes more sense for them to stay here than to return to a country they've never before seen. Except instead of having parents who are sometimes overwhelmed by working three jobs at the chicken plant, now these kids will have no parents and be left with neighbors and relatives. Even if your only metric is how this impacts schools, it's still bad because those kids are still here but they are just unparented.

I'm not the poster you quoted.

Why would that make more sense? US citizen children move to countries "they've never before seen" all the time when their parents move for jobs. Their parents are with them.

I fear for these poor children and their families. They have already endured so much and the vast majority are law abiding. There’s been so much fear mongering about our immigrant communities.

Is this the choice you’d make for your own kids if it meant moving them to a country where their life/safety was threatened? I’ve seen the lengths DCUM parents will go to just to give their kids a leg up on college admission or a travel team. You really have no clue what life is like for others and zero compassion.
