This. Oh my. |
Bureaucratic inertia is a thing, and the brass at the Pentagon will have no respect for an O-5 Guardsman. He'll be isolated on Day One. |
Good. |
Democrats don't want to send anyone into combat. Historically it has been Republicans pushing military action while Democrats seek diplomatic solutions. But if combat is needed, Democrats do think that women are able to do the job alongside men, and should not be prevented from it based on gender. We still have a volunteer force (for now, at least) and nobody - male or female - is required to serve if they don't feel they are personally up for the task. |
Of what? The only video I saw was of him promoting ammunition made in the USA. Not exactly white supremacy material. |
A Trump pick based on his idea of central casting. |
Not if they want to keep their jobs |
Will this strategy of threats be effective at the DOD? |
It is a thing, and its awful. Working in the Pentagon you feel like it's still 1968. |
Idiocracy |
America was great. |
It’s not threats, it’s basic conduct. If there are generals refusing to work with SoD then they aren’t doing their job and should be fired. If you refused to do your job, you’d be fired too |
Sounds like you never had the pleasure of a crappy boss. |
Tammy Duckworth didn’t exactly have a combat experience that makes a strong argument for putting more women into more combat roles. |
Yep. Leadership 101: establish credibility. He can’t. They’ll be respectful on the surface but they will not actually respect him or his authority in that position. These people have serious jobs with enormous consequences. They are not clowns and they don’t suffer fools. |
