Sounds like my neighborhood. It also sounds not drastically different from what we've been living around the entire time we've been in DC. I'm not indifferent to it - it's something that needs serious attention. But what I see more and more of are fearful and irrational responses to it. I'm just not going to get on board with that. I want our political leaders to address crime. But I don't want feel-good policies that actually do more harm than good. Pause is good. The feelings (fear, anger) are real - I feel them too. But we need.to use our brains, not just emotions. |
That's exactly what the Council delivered post-2020. It led to an additional 150-200 murders annually. |
It coincided with. It's not logical to assume that it lead to. And the new crime bills being proposed? Where's the evidence that those measures will reduce crime. Sometimes it's the lead in the water, not the policing. |
This was a safe place to live in the 2010s. Now it’s not. Something happened. What is the council good for if they can’t address it? |
| Another shooting/murder last night and no updates from JGL. |
| Does Jonah still have the excel spreadsheet to keep track of crime? Or is too much to keep track? |
Where was this? |

Can you specify which particular policies JLG proposed that were adopted, funded, and implemented that led to this crime wave? I'll give you a hint - you cannot because this mess is the Mayor's, but she is afraid of taking on MPD's laziness and refusal to leave their precincts. Their response time has slowed dramatically because they are more likely to be twiddling their thumbs at the station than they are to be in the community. The police union has done an incredible job tricking you into thinking Defund did anything. |
So she’s just ineffective over all and can’t even do what she wants to do? |
| Seriously, what is the council good for if they refuse to address crime, and claim their well-documented efforts to defund failed even as crime skyrocketed? Maybe we can elect someone who doesn’t gaslight that crime in our ward is significantly worse than before her time in office and is willing to address it. |
Hey.. I don't agree with you, but I wanted to say I at least can understand your perspective and appreciate you cutting through the bullshit to be real. |

Remember when Brandon Todd had a huge fundraising edge over JLG four years ago? That race was so over. |
She has like another $60k in public funding coming soon (and she would already have it if she didn't screw up her initial campaign filing) |
