It’s not okay for teachers to deliberately misgender, but that has to hold true across the board. There was recently a court case in Pennsylvania on this issue where a teacher’s alleged behavior was grossly inappropriate, but was backed by administration. Reported about in Volokh, the case is quoted at length: https://reason.com/volokh/2023/06/01/first-grade-teachers-pursuing-her-own-transgender-agenda-outside-the-curriculum-may-violate-constitutional-parental-rights/ From the case, this is what the school board allegedly backed:

There is nothing "misogynist" about defending the basic rights of vulnerable people from the political party that is actively trying to take away rights. People are criticizing her words and actions. This has nothing to do with her gender. |
Again, which basic rights are being taken away? |
You are accusing Scanlan of lying. Be specific about what you are doing. Accusing women who tell their stories of harassment and intimidation of lying is absolutely misogyny. It is in fact textbook misogyny. |
What exactly is your “compassionate care”? |
I am not a psychiatrist at my facility. I am what we call a somatic doctor. We have physicians and a dentist on staff to take care of the physical needs of the patient, as well as specialists - infectious disease, gynecology, podiatry, etc. I am one of those. My compassionate care is ensuring the patients is healthy in other aspects of their life that other than their mental health. I listen to their concerns, do a through evaluation, and treat them. I have many times provided emergency care, cleared up infections, prescribed meds to keep them comfortable. We frequently have delightful conversations during the course of treatment. Some patients here are short term, some have been her for 10+ years. Before working at this facility I worked at an HIV clinic for 10 years. We had many more trans patients at that clinic. Same deal. Treated them all with respect and compassion. Is that enough for you? |
+1. You're actually PROTECTING many people's right by doing so. |
How many of your trans woman patients have played professional sports? |
Discriminatory ideas are never helpful. |
I’m sorry. I’m out of this conversation. You keep moving the goalposts. I was basically told my work is invalid because I think being trans is a mental illness. I have explained my level of compassionate care and that’s still not enough. Whether or not my patients play professional sports - god only knows why this is relevant to my level of care. You clearly can’t admit that I can deliver compassionate care without holding the exact position on transgenderism as you do. So respectfully I am bowing out. |
Accusing RWNJs of misrepresenting the truth is not misogyny. Women are not fragile flowers that cannot be criticized. That is condescending AF. |
It’s good to have evidence that someone is lying when you accuse them of it. |
It’s because you’re making opinions on trans people (women?) in sports without knowing any. I have no idea if you provide the same level of care to trans patients as cis patients. I’m sure that you don’t have a cure to make trans people cis though. |
+1 You don't respect them for the people that they are. |
If you don't disrespect them as some basic level and support government policies that harm them then, yeah, that's not "compassionate". You politely think they shouldn't exist. |
