But where is evidence that "brightest scholar athletes in this country are told they will lose scholarships and jobs"?

9:00 mark. From the Penn administration. “Don’t talk to the media. You will regret it.”

Again, no threat to scholarships or jobs. This is getting to be like whack-a-mole.

Let's review how we got here. A poster claimed that trans activists are so powerful that they convince people who have detransitioned to retransition. That's absurd on the face of it. Yet, rather than accept that the claim is absurd and move on, you folks are trying to split hairs about what "you will regret it" means. It certainly has nothing to do with transition.

I will return to my earlier point. On one side you have a marginalized group who have little power behind their Twitter accounts. On the other, you have an entire political party and several state governments hellbent on taking away their rights. According to you folks, the intimidating party is the Twitter posters. Your evidence? Biden criticizing a law and a warning not to speak to the media. Are you serious?

What rights are they hell bent on taking away?

Go here and read:

https://translegislation.com

I haven’t delved into it very far, but on the front page it talks about misgendering a transperson. I’m sorry, but that is not taking away someone’s rights. I was thinking I would be reading legislation that bans trans people from obtaining lifesaving healthcare or housing or food service. That would be taking away someone’s rights. Not using preferred pronouns? No so much. That’s just being a d¡ck.

There are 556 bills they are monitoring for this year alone. Keep reading.

However, I think there is a legitimate discussion to be held about whether kids have the right to be identified by their preferred pronouns. How would you feel if a teacher purposely misgendered you?

It’s not okay for teachers to deliberately misgender, but that has to hold true across the board. There was recently a court case in Pennsylvania on this issue where a teacher’s alleged behavior was grossly inappropriate, but was backed by administration. Reported about in Volokh, the case is quoted at length:

https://reason.com/volokh/2023/06/01/first-grade-teachers-pursuing-her-own-transgender-agenda-outside-the-curriculum-may-violate-constitutional-parental-rights/

From the case, this is what the school board allegedly backed:

Williams had private conversations with this young boy, discussing with him the similarities between the boy and her transgender child again suggesting that the boy might want to wear a dress, at other times commenting to him how the boy and her transgender child had similar interest[s] and the same favorite color, and telling the child that he could be like her transgender child. Williams explained to this young boy that "doctors can get it wrong sometimes." In the course of these private discussions, Williams also told this young boy that "she would never lie to him" and, if the subjects they were discussing came up at home, to say that "I heard it from a little birdie." In other words, upon information and belief, while having private discussions with this young boy about topics related to gender dysphoria, she told the child not to tell his parents about the discussions.

The "team mate" is anti-trans conservative who follows Daily Wire, Independent Women's Forum, Newsmax, Tucker Carlson, Tomi Lahren, DeSantis, Trump, "anti-wokeness", etc.

And she is BIG on misgendering people.
https://twitter.com/PaulaYScanlan/

If one political party is on the side of the university administration that threatened you as a 19-year-old, why would you trust that political party? The mainstream media and the Democratic Party have made it clear that they are on the side of the power structure that threatened her. Of course she is going to follow the people on Twitter who believe her and listen to her. You can’t even call her a teammate without using air quotes to imply she’s lying about that basic fact.

One of the things that is absolutely infuriating about this entire discussion is how rabidly and viciously supposedly liberal media and political figures attack women who have spoken up about their experiences with transwomen in spaces that used to be for biological women. And people see this. They see the screaming mob that assaulted Riley Gaines at SFSU. They see the attacks that have immediately come forward towards Paula Scanlan. They see the death threats, the doxxing, the attacks. It’s deeply problematic behavior with misogynist roots and it’s infuriating how supposedly liberal people engage in it.

There is nothing "misogynist" about defending the basic rights of vulnerable people from the political party that is actively trying to take away rights.

People are criticizing her words and actions. This has nothing to do with her gender.

It wouldn't be enough. When you talk to most of these people and they're honest, they actually want to ban all trans people of all ages from transitioning. They don't want trans women and trans men to transition and just stay home. It has little to do with bathrooms or kids.

This is not true for me at all. I am the PP with many trans patients. I treat them with kindness and respect. But I want sports, prisons and bathrooms separated by biological sex. I’m not asking for a lot. I’m not violating anyone’s rights with my request.

While fighting against their rights and calling them mentally ill behind their backs. No one cares that you are polite in person.

What rights am I fighting against?

I believe THEY care. But the keyboard warrior over here demands that I accept everything about them or else my work is invalid? Is that what you’re saying? I work with these patients and help them on a daily basis. Should I stop now because you don’t think I accept them enough? What, pray tell, are you doing on a daily basis (besides posting on DCUM) that actually literally and physically helps them?

I want sports segregated by biological sex. Again, tell me how this violates their rights.

If you think that being trans is itself a mental illness then that implies that not being trans is the cure.

And what does that have to do with anything? Specifically my compassionate care of these individuals on a daily basis?

What exactly is your “compassionate care”?

I am not a psychiatrist at my facility. I am what we call a somatic doctor. We have physicians and a dentist on staff to take care of the physical needs of the patient, as well as specialists - infectious disease, gynecology, podiatry, etc. I am one of those.
My compassionate care is ensuring the patients is healthy in other aspects of their life that other than their mental
health. I listen to their concerns, do a through evaluation, and treat them. I have many times provided emergency care, cleared up infections, prescribed meds to keep them comfortable. We frequently have delightful conversations during the course of treatment. Some patients here are short term, some have been her for 10+ years.
Before working at this facility I worked at an HIV clinic for 10 years. We had many more trans patients at that clinic. Same deal. Treated them all with respect and compassion.
Is that enough for you?

I’m sorry. I’m out of this conversation. You keep moving the goalposts. I was basically told my work is invalid because I think being trans is a mental illness. I have explained my level of compassionate care and that’s still not enough. Whether or not my patients play professional sports - god only knows why this is relevant to my level of care. You clearly can’t admit that I can deliver compassionate care without holding the exact position on transgenderism as you do. So respectfully I am bowing out.

It’s because you’re making opinions on trans people (women?) in sports without knowing any.

I have no idea if you provide the same level of care to trans patients as cis patients. I’m sure that you don’t have a cure to make trans people cis though.

How many of your trans woman patients have played professional sports?

If you don't disrespect them as some basic level and support government policies that harm them then, yeah, that's not "compassionate".

You politely think they shouldn't exist.
