Wow! So women should be OK with trans women sexually assaulting and raping women because prisoner on prisoner violence happens? So if violence against women is not big deal because as you say because "violence happens", then why should anyone care about violence against trans and gay people?

No one is saying that, you fool. Prison is a violent place, and inmates are likely to be assaulted by inmates and guards. Is violence by trans inmates awful and should be handled? Yes. However, you conveniently leave out that trans inmates are much more likely be victims of violence in jail. Yet, I don't see you crying over them.

I just want to make sure I have this right. Trans women are allowed to be fearful of men, but if women claim to be fearful of male violence, they are TERFs.
Did I get that right?

That indeed seems to be the position here.

No, just incredibly disingenuous. Male violence is a problem for everyone. Period. But I haven't seen such (fake, faux, crocodile tears) concern over violence against women since I started working in the field in 1992. The only time any of you liars give a crap about violence against women is when it's some anomaly in prison. Male violence in prisons has been an issue for long enough that an entire national resource center is dedicated to it, PREA exists for a reason. One news article, even a few, that shows that sometimes trans women also commit violence means d!ck. It means violence happens in prisons. If every act of violence in prison made the news there'd be room for nothing else. It makes the news because it's rare. But you acting all boo hoo about violence against women - omg there's violence against women, we must stop these trans people from committing such heinous acts against our lovely women - is sickening. You don't give two craps about violence against women. You care about your new justification to hate trans people. Save it, we don't need your faux concern or outrage. Where the hell have you been all these years? Not giving a crap, that's where.

They also don’t support the VAWA. They really, really don’t care about violence against women.

They don’t support punishments for male law officers that rape and coerce sex from female inmates - and that does happen a lot.

When they can be bothered to believe them, they blame women for sexual assaults, no matter what age or what the female is wearing. There are hundreds of terrible quotes by Republicans about rape and how women should just enjoy it.

They do not support the ERA.

They do not support women in the workplace; they do not support women receiving equal compensation for work performed.

Republicans hate women.

Instead of encouraging people to be more concerned about violence against women, you are telling them to sit down and shut up? Bravo! You win the prize for misogynist of the day.

Why do I need to encourage you to be more concerned about violence against women? Why does that need encouraging? Shouldn't you already be? You really need someone like to me to explain to you why violence against women is bad, so that you'll finally pay attention? You're the one seemingly so concerned about it, why don't YOU tell all of us how much you've done to work against violence against women, since you seem to care so much about it.

I also happen to think trans people are human beings and have a right to exist. Sue me.

The trans activist boogeyman is to claim an existential crisis. Newsflash! No one is trying to genocide trans people. Get over your perpetual victimhood.

When you throw up roadblock after roadblock to maintain their care, that's exactly what you're doing. In Florida, SB 254 is going to make it incredibly difficult if not impossible in some situations, to just be transgender. That's literally the point. To get their medications prescribed and maintained is going to be impossible for some. This is for adults, not children. So GTFOH with your "no one is trying to genocide trans people." They actually are.

Agreed. Right wingers are so slow witted.

Trans people were getting medical care just fine until something incredible happened. They started demanding that trans kids be allowed to have gender affirming surgery/medication and access to women's spaces. Well, the chickens have come home to roost and the GOP is about to show Icarus that he flew too close to the sun.

I can't take you seriously when you keep saying "genocide." It really does not have the effect you think it does because the more you say it more it falls on deaf ears. It's the boy who cried wolf. Homosexuals and trans people in Uganda and the Middle East lave a legitimate fear of extinction because of their sexuality and their gender identity. First world people acting like their lives are being snuffed out on a daily basis is truly a cry for mental health services.

Good luck out there.

Just so we're clear, your position is that informed consent and prohibiting state funds be used for accessing cross-sex hormones and top/bottom surgery = genocide?

Trans people were getting medical care just fine until something incredible happened. They started demanding that trans kids be allowed to have gender affirming surgery/medication and access to women's spaces. Well, the chickens have come home to roost and the GOP is about to show Icarus that he flew too close to the sun.

Ah. So now we'll genocide trans people because they need to be punished. In other words.

You’re just … dense.

It seems your well of thoughtful responses has run dry. Such a shame.

When even the R megadonors think that Rs are out of touch

https://www.thedailybeast.com/billionaire-ken-griffin-new-dont-say-gay-law-is-too-far-even-for-me?ref=home

Even for Republican billionaire Ken Griffin, Florida’s expanded “Don’t Say Gay” law is a bridge too far.

In a statement to The Harvard University student newspaper The Crimson, a spokesperson for the GOP megadonor said he opposes the new regulations, which bar teachers in all grades from delving into topics related to gender and sexual identity. Previously, the law only applied to teachers in third grade or below; Griffin endorsed those measures.

“Like the vast majority of Americans, Ken believes that discussions on gender identity and sexual orientation should be led by parents with their children at home, rather than by teachers in elementary schools,” the spokesperson wrote. “However, as a steadfast supporter of open discourse, academic freedom, and free speech, Ken disagrees with Florida’s recent rule extending the prohibition of classroom instruction on these topics through 12th grade.”

I’m not sure this is making the point you think it is. While Griffin opposes the new bill which extends to grade 12, he supported the bill when it extended to grade 3, as did a surprising large majority of Floridians. DeSantis may be overreaching here currently but this does not equate to the R platform being wholly unpopular or out of touch. Honestly if Dems want to play that card, they should focus on abortion where the R position is much more unpopular.
