Exactly this. History is a social justice lesson with the 3 topics mentioned above. All respect to founders is dismissed. There's no pride of country anymore. It's sad. We moved to Catholic school for this reason. Much more reasonable teaching across the board, even allowing for theology class that I don't 100% agree with. It's a lot closer to a real education than anything our previous school was doing. We got tired of $40k tuition for DS to feel like he needed to apologize for his existence.

Very true. And the poster acknowledged them and added an interesting analysis which sadly we cannot read any longer. One of the points was that it was Dem legend FDR who did the internment camps and how that's often ignored.

No the problem is that they seem the teach that it is possible to have the society without the abuse. It isn’t. Capitalism is an engine that requires a sink. That sink is the underclass. It is a crucial part of the system. Globalism was simply an effort to outsource the underclass. It also resulted in a poor white underclass here at home in former manufacturing centers. The point is that schools are teaching people to be very pampered about their sensitivities as if it’s possible to eliminate all offenses. That attitude is a marker of immense privilege—privilege that rests on having a trust fund. I’m not talking here about basic civil rights, or general inclusiveness. It’s the notion that you can expunge all ideas that offend you.

Correct. And it’s because there is no history and facts being taught anymore in progressive schools. They teach thematically cherry picked units and out of chrono order. It helps them paint their message and agenda. Covering US history as slavery, interment camps and civil rights events. Not discovery, invention, progress, development, leaders, what else was going on in the world.

So yeah the kids think Columbus invented slavery because they know no world history and get bonked over the head all year with how bad Columbus was.

Exactly this. History is a social justice lesson with the 3 topics mentioned above. All respect to founders is dismissed. There's no pride of country anymore. It's sad. We moved to Catholic school for this reason. Much more reasonable teaching across the board, even allowing for theology class that I don't 100% agree with. It's a lot closer to a real education than anything our previous school was doing. We got tired of $40k tuition for DS to feel like he needed to apologize for his existence.

I always liked that unit where the middle schoolers rewrite the constitution and ridicule how evil and unwoke and stupid the founding fathers were. The recent discussions in class on why to change the scotus terms and electoral college were a Nice touch too.
