Can’t remember whether this was on the actual show or the after-show interviews, but I’m obsessed with a dinosaur necklace that she was wearing. Don’t think my boring-old-yuppie self can pull it off, but I’m going to find something like it for my GenZ teen. |
You wear stonewashed high waist Jean shorts with neon colored sweater tops? Cool. |
Florence Pugh:
Haley Lu Richardson:
I see it. |
Pp here. Maybe so! I personally don’t find it to be a bad look at all; just youthful and casual. |
|
I think Pugh has a much more defined and delicate mouth and while they both have round faces, Pugh has a slightly pointier chin, giving her face more of a heart shape. I think they are very similar looking and the eyes and nose, plus the shape of their faces and the fact that they both have a penchant for bleached hair with darker blonde roots, but I think Pugh is more otherworldly beautiful and Haley more regular girl gorgeous. I can really see why Pugh was cast as ScarJo's sister. |
Yikes. Sorry for you. |
Imho, Daphne is lying to herself. She IS a victim. It does bother her that Cameron cheats on her and there is no palazzo in the world that will fix that hurt. Daphne and Cameron are more dysfunctional than Harper and Ethan and that is saying something! |
Oh, I completely agree. But, she doesn't want to be a victim. She hates that people would think about her that way or feel sorry for her. She's a strong woman likely doing what's best for her kids. There is SO MUCH VICTIM BLAMING when a woman is betrayed. Oh she must not have sex with her husband, she must be a nag, the ow must have something she doesn't...which is all a load of complete horsesh*t. It is the cheater who is responsible and messed up. This is why betrayed women suffer in silence. It's a dirty little secret they have to keep to themselves to protect their kids from gossip and to avoid being judged for something they did not do. A woman can be everything, e.g., smart, beautiful, have sex, work, be a great wife/mother..and her spouse will still cheat. Other women dont' want to believe it could ever happen to them so they scapegoat the victim. We see it in the media and perpetuated all the time. It's always "well you don't know what she's like behind closed doors'...blah, blah, blah. Yes, She is a victim. I think her comments about loving the Dateline specials where the husband is always murdered by the wife is very telling. I think there is a pent up suppressed rage inside of her. |
| Agree! |
I don't think a rich white man has to have sex he doesn't want in order to manipulate or influence people. |

WHY DIDN’T HARPER SAY SOMETHING ABIUT THE CONDOM WRAPPER?! I was shouting at the tv.
Do you think the college friend planted it to “play games”? |
Didn’t Cameron start hooking up with Lucia on that couch? I assumed that’s where the condom came from. |

I liked the focus on the working girls this episode, and the introduction of the gay guys. It was nice to see Tanya looking and feeling good about herself for once. I sort of love that Mike White is including a plot line about gays and their “hags” in this! Though I also think it’s going to end poorly, probably with Tanya feeling used and worse than ever. Or potentially she’ll do something to screw over her lovely new friends like she did Belinda.
The storyline with Albie and Lucia is icky. Just because she was just with his dad, and he doesn’t know she’s a prostitute (he is so dumb! Four years at Stanford and he doesn’t have the common sense to wonder what these two young women are doing on their own at the priciest hotel in Sicily, wearing cocktail dresses all day long). And also the stuff with Albie and Portia trying to make each other jealous was dumb. Though the way Portia ditches Albie for her new buddy was extremely realistic. Right down to her being very passive about it and lying to Albie in a way that made it obvious what she was doing. Have we discussed the character of Portia from Merchant of Venice? I had not seen parallels in their characters before this episode but now I do, with the duplicitousness. Interesting how Portia got a glow up the minute they started hanging with the new crew. Took off her dumb hat and wore some color, and a couple actually flattering garments. |

The gays definitely seem like con artists. Tonya’s story of “I was born in SF” was funny though. Why is the young guy (Portia’s love interest) with them?
Agree with how painfully realistic Portia ditching Albie was. I wonder if Lucia has a long game with Alvie since I think she knows he’s the son. Are the hotel managers at White Lotuses all gay and don’t understand workplace harassment though?! |
