They don’t exist to help parents talk to their kids.

They are deterring kids from having hard talks with their parents though. That’s a problem.

There is not a single teacher or school official that tells a kid not to talk to their parents about ANYTHING.

You are in no position to make such a blanket assertion.

It's very obvious that there are teachers in FCPS and other school systems who want students to believe that their views may be more enlightened than those held by their parents (and therefore that schools are a "safe space" where students should be "their real selves,." regardless of how they conduct themselves at home).

It's also very clear that the local Democrats in Virginia have adopted a calculated strategy of turning adolescents into spokespersons on a host of political issues, often feeding them material to disseminate, and then claiming that anyone who disagrees with those positions is "attacking kids."

I won't call this behavior "gro*ming," since that may connote predatory sexual behavior, but it is opportunistic and disrespectful to parents.

Many teens are currently *very* tuned into politics.

First, they had to endure that dumpster fire Trump. Then, the insanity around COVID, deniers, anti-vaxxers, anti-maskers, police violence, mass shootings, conspiracy theorists, 1/6, etc. So much unrest.

That is all serious motivation for kids to get involved. They don’t have or need adults pushing them.

#longhaulTDS #wokie

You are exactly the type of person that fuels the fire for my teens' political activism. They are disgusted by people like you.

Look at these engaged kids - great to see them doing their civic duty:

Your kids are clueless.

Video includes McLean HS:

Sounds like her McLean kid was fairly accurate. That is a very small group.

Several of those photos have adults leading and directing kids.

If this was an organic student protest and not an even staged by activists, there should be zero adults involved.

The kids were used by a politicsl group that should not have been allowed on school grounds.

Why are any adults involved in this protest?
Anonymous
Elected political officials should never be allowed to come in and lead and participate in a protest in our public schools during a school day involving minor children whose parents have not given express written permission to be used by a partisan politician, that these government officials then posted all over social media and brought in news media.

The adult involvement in this protest event, especially what has been posted about West Potomac High School is simlly wrong and an extreme violation of trust.

Something >> nothing

If you don't like the protests, maybe you should encourage Youngkin to stop trying to hurt vulnerable kids.

- because adults organized all of this, and used kids as political pawns.

Youngkin is making vulnerable kids pawns.

These kids are walking out by choice.

So in other words , this is another example of adults, including teachers, using kids to push their agenda. Teachers should be held accountable.
Anonymous
So should the politicians involved.

How many of those kids even read the proposed policy? Or are they protesting because they were told that "Gov Youngkin hates trans."
Gender Disphoria is a recognized medical issue, that requires extensive medical support and counselling. Why wouldn't parents be involved in these medical decisions?
The argument that the children are afraid of their parents is a complete red herring. I would venture to bet that 99.9% of the kids protesting over a policy that they didn't read, and that identify as something other than cis-gender, have their parents' support.

It was GORGEOUS outside today.

Sunny, breezy, just a little cool.

Perfect day to “protest.”

I am sure when it’s 47 degrees and drizzling and there is some objectionable new policy the turnout will be the same.
