There is not a single teacher or school official that tells a kid not to talk to their parents about ANYTHING.

You are in no position to make such a blanket assertion.

It's very obvious that there are teachers in FCPS and other school systems who want students to believe that their views may be more enlightened than those held by their parents (and therefore that schools are a "safe space" where students should be "their real selves,." regardless of how they conduct themselves at home).

It's also very clear that the local Democrats in Virginia have adopted a calculated strategy of turning adolescents into spokespersons on a host of political issues, often feeding them material to disseminate, and then claiming that anyone who disagrees with those positions is "attacking kids."

I won't call this behavior "gro*ming," since that may connote predatory sexual behavior, but it is opportunistic and disrespectful to parents.

Many teens are currently *very* tuned into politics.

First, they had to endure that dumpster fire Trump. Then, the insanity around COVID, deniers, anti-vaxxers, anti-maskers, police violence, mass shootings, conspiracy theorists, 1/6, etc. So much unrest.

That is all serious motivation for kids to get involved. They don’t have or need adults pushing them.

Tweens and teens were isolated and getting no peer attention for years when the teachers’ groups and Democratic politicians joined forces to make sure schools were closed, and then they came back and learned the best way to get attention and gain an instant community with the support of many teachers was to declare themselves non-binary or trans and claim they have to protected from their own parents. It’s kind of weird yet strangely predictable at the same time.

Schools were virtual because we had a deadly pandemic.

Kids weren’t isolated for “years”.

Kids aren’t transgender “to get attention”.

Guess you can’t make a point without lying.

The liars are those who tried to pass off yesterday's events as school-wide walkouts when actually a very small percentage of students participated at the overwhelming majority of the schools involved.

And it's very low cost and very common for kids to declare themselves non-binary now in particular, thanks to the constant proselytizing.

Yes they were. I’ll let you try and do the math. Covid shut down schools in March 2020. By March 2021 schools were still not open full time (we started with 2 days a week only) and many kids stayed virtual to finish out the year.

I did the math. Kids were back in school in a year.

Plus, MANY also had thriving social lives during virtual school. Our kids hung out MORE with friends in their "bubble" during virtual school than they do now because they didn't have as many after-school commitments as they do now.

I saw some parent complaints online that WestPo had individual teachers sending out encouragment to students to walk you via official schoology emails.

If this is true then the teachers who abused their student access in this way should be fired.

I think there were some schools with staff pushing kids to walk out.

Most schools did not.

So the difference in the huge size of walk outs at West Potomac, and most of the other high schools that had a dozen or so kids walking out was teacher involvement and staff encouraging the walk out

Ironically it seems those are likely the teachers this is trying to protect parents and children from.

Are you reading this thread? People have posted sections.

Start on page 16.

https://doe.virginia.gov/support/gender-diversity/2022-model-policies-on-the-privacy-dignity-and-respect-for-all-students-town-hall.pdf

Here are a few:

- ability to be called the names and pronouns of their choice without it going on their permanent record.

- use of bathrooms that align with the gender they identify with (though not enforceable right now due to Grimm federal case outcome

- athletics restrictions.

These are not "rights".

All children in Virginia have a right to learn, free from unlawful discrimination and harassment. His proposed model obliterates this.

Good, so now defend the kid that gets harassed for wearing a MAGA hat to school. He shouldn't be harassed either, but I suspect you don't feel that way about it.

The walkout at McLean is featured on the Post's Metro section today. It looks like there were probably about 150 kids out front yesterday, out of a student body of 2350 or so.

It was much more publicized at West Potomac by some school staff and by Scott Surovell and his family.

Here is the actual proposed policy to read, and then decide on, for yourself:

Seems reasonable

Looks like the kids that stayed overwhelming support Glen Youngkin and his policies.
