You got the 1500 as a median SAT for MoCo IB students from what school's website? From RM's? Obviously all MCPS students do not have a median score of 1500 on their SATs, so why does this applicant with 1440 get compared only to the 1500 median for some of the IB students? Do you work in UMCP admissions? And you're not hurting my feelings at all.

Maybe you need to re-read the entire thread... start from the very top... "IB diploma"... this student is an IB student, that's why I mentioned IB student scores.

I'm just a parent, and yes, my kid is in the IB program, and I am aware of some of their SAT scores through my kid.

Lemme get this straight: you quoted a 1500 SAT as median for the IB program, and it turns out you know "some SAT scores through your kid." That is not data. You seem to be intent on being unhelpful and you are making claims based on hearsay. Please get a hobby.

1500 SAT is considered low in MCPS IB, kids got 1500 would retake
+1 good gracious... I got the 1500 from the school website. If I only look at DC's friends, the median would be more like 1550 or 1560. I only mentioned DC and friends as examples.

Why are people so defensive about this? I'm just stating what the numbers show.

UMD or any university is not comparing IB students at Einstein with RMIB. Two different schools.

RMIB is county wide test in magnet school students are selected.
The other IB schools are for the neighborhood students who want to challenge themselves.

No idea what % but it seems like all but one of my kid and friends, so about 10, got in. Very unscientific but I was just surprised. One has low 1100 SATs, although maybe did not submit. She was Spring admit to Delaware but got into College Park?

It is true. Like I said, it may be that some (or even all but my DS) got Freshman Connection but I could not believe everyone got in.

What is the percentage of maximum out of state applicants accepted to UMD? Virginia and North Carolina schools cap at around a maximum 25%. The state legislature sets the cap which can be changed if the legislature decides.

There is no cap at UMD for out of state students. That creates a financial incentive to choose out of state applicants over in state applicants. Does UMD publish the percentage of out of state students in their freshman classes?

Your link doesn't work, but I was referring to UMCP. I think they can take 30% OOS but it looks like they usually hit about 25%.
