When someone doesn't reply to texts...

But constantly updates their FB, do you think that they are being rude on purpose?

I have a close friend who is like this. I will text her and she won't reply at all yet all day she is on FB. If I ask how she is, she will say "sorry, I didn't reply... I have been busy". It just seems like common courtesy to me that when you see a text, you shoot a quick reply.

Maybe her phone doesn't receive texts. Or maybe she doesn't have a text plan (I don't, but I respond to email). Or she's a flake.

Besides being rude about responding to texts, is she a good friend? If so, let it go. If not, let her go.

Agreed... When I'm putting my son down to sleep, I'm on the tablet but my phone is downstairs. It can take a while...

She replies to them eventually or after I send another text 9 hrs later. She is a great friend but we no longer work at the same place, so we don't see each other often. As a result, I text more since I am not seeing her everyday.

Sometimes texts don't come through immediately. Sometimes one's phone is in a bag or turned off. Who knows?

If you need a quick reply, try texting and FB message. That should help.

So you know that she doesn't read and respond to texts in a timely fashion, but she does reply on FB. So why would you continually send her messages by text instead of going on FB and sending her a PM? I would argue that it is intentionally rude of YOU to continue to try to contact her by text and then hold her accountable when she doesn't reply.

I am on a computer most of the day and I can see FB from my computer. If I'm home, most of the time, I don't have my cell on me and it's in another room. So if you email or FB PM me, I'll respond quickly. If you text, it could be an hour or two before I check my cell. Half the time when I'm at work, I turn my cell to silent because I'm in a lot meetings. When I get out, I don't always remember to check and I don't always remember to turn the volume back up. I'll check 2-3 times per day for messages/texts and answer then.

I don't reply to texts because I don't want people to text me as a regular form of communication. It annoys me when people just randomly want to chat by text and expect an immediate reply 24/7. I think you should take a hint op. She is not replying because she is trying to train you not to text her. Call or email instead.
