It's loophole to the parent if that younger kid takes your kid's spot when that kid can, maybe should, play on age, especially if the club mandates all kids do it, rather than case-by-case. It makes it not about the soccer. |
This and different competitive levels and age have different needs. |
There's no lack of information, nor is the situation complex. Ignorance in this day and age of readily available information is a choice The league has an age range for each age group. Your kid has a DOB that falls in an age group range That's where they play. What more do people need? |
When your kid gets older and college recruiting comes into play you'll understand. Untill then you wont. Obviously you're a know it all so its just something you have to experience. |
Experience isn't knowledge Knowledge is knowledge What in the PP is incorrect? No DOB for kids? No set age groups from leagues? |
College coaches directly said and told two clubs they don't care the age or age group they recruits play in. They said be a great player. (See Eastside and FC Copa) Being the oldest in an age group has been a well studied way to excel long term and being the youngest is most likely to quit. (See RAE) If people are using this thread for information without double checking it's accuracy they are nuts. Relying upon opinions of others with no backup information here makes you vulnerable for bad decisions. |

100% Spin. You’re taking a single statement out of context.
FC Copa plans to play Aug birthdays with their grade based on feedback from college coaches. https://youtu.be/H_MCwT85SKY?&t=5m19s |
Does this FC Copa own their own league to set their own age cutoffs? Why would college coaches be giving this much time to this club? |
Those parents would be better off finding or starting their your own league that strictly adheres to whatever rules they make up instead of complaining that it isn't fair that younger kids play up. |
|
No problem with kids playing up -- if they are at that level. It's not good for anyone if they're not, especially them unless it's a social/rec situation. |
We don't need anything from you because you are just a random stranger on the internet, but you could actually read the materials on the intent of the change, the reason for the age range selection and also remember, that even today, plenty of kids play up. So no I don't think kids will be playing with younger grades unless they were held back and didn't start K on time, or because they choose to because it gives them more playing time. There are too many options out there for kids to be forced down. Maybe if club soccer were free, the clubs could do it - but when you are paying that much, you have options. |
Everybody including clubs knows value of RAE. Playing up still rare, grades in school don't matter. If leagues wanted grade years they would have made them, they had no intent to do that. It is just a 12 month window again. |
Its so obvious that you're a littles parent that has no clue about how college recruiting works or how it changes the game. Ignorant know it all. |
The important point is that they said, "We had separate conversations with several college coaches. Those college coaches made it incredibly clear that it does not matter what age is they will only recruit them once they hit their junior and senior years." |
