100% accurate. |
Alright, age troll, here's a cute little dose of reality. On the boys side, most college recruits come from MLSN HG which is staying birth year which means either playing with grad year or up a year. So let's say you are a junior at an ECNL showcase where the coaches are primarily watching juniors, ask yourself what the odds are that a coach is going over to watch the sophomores that you are playing with, even if you emailed them and are on their list? How many kids do you think they are watching and how likely are they to bother with your kid? I think we all know the answer, so stop with your absolute nonsense. No need for a hypothetical. After real academies, about same number of ECNL and MLSN HG playing in college. College coaches said they don't care the age group or team or age of recruit. They recruit interested players. MLSN1 HG kids being Aug-Dec will be fine. |
Nobody wants a freshman level but you. Leagues and teams are going 8/1 - 7/31 from BY. Your recruiting myth doesn't work after college coaches said they don't care your age or age group, recruits don't need to play up. |

Sounds like “you” need to outplay the “juniors” and earn a spot on that team. Remember, it’s a competition. Some win, and some lose (and have to play with the sophomores)… |
| Trick question, ECNL showcases going graduation year so not an issue. |
Never going to happen. |
Impact on Showcases: By Fall 2026, showcases will heavily utilize the graduation year model to align with these changes. |
Sigh 🤦♂️ |
Not ugh. Showcases by graduation year will be fine, not a problem. |
| Good morning ... I'm so glad to see the age-grade debate has been solved ... Oh, wait, no. ... Carry-on, I guess? |
Juniors and Seniors already play together in Showcases. Keep making things up about GY. |
If the folks trying to empty the ocean with a spoon would stop arguing with the bot, it would be good/interesting to collect all the different ways clubs are approaching the upcoming season and share info on the upcoming tryouts. This thread is doomed though. |
It's not a level. You do realize there are Freshman teams that are stronger than Sophmore teams? These decisions have nothing to do with level. Now the only time LEVEL comes into play, is your kid is good enough to make the older age group team to stay in that SY. If you kid is not, then kid is problem, not system. Or simply, you can play on 2nd team at that SY. |
This thread needs warm weather so people can get out lol |
Clubs care almost only about their top teams performance. If kids can make their age group's top team at your club, they will not be on any second team. |
