| Opinions? Does that opinion differ if the teacher were male/female? |
| Depends on the content of the tatoos. |
This exactly. White power, no thanks. A butterfly, cool. |
| Don't care at all unless it's something semi obscene (I'm looking at you guy at grocery store who had a tattoo of a topless girl straddling a very phallic looking canon). |
| Seriously? |
|
No ms-13 gang teardrop tattoos either.
Otherwise, no big deal. |
| Doesn't matter at all unless the content of the tatoo is inappropriate or obscene. |

Several fellow teachers at my W feeder school have tattoos. Generally, they are on display during the pre-service week and then we don't see them again until the teacher work day at the end of September (and even then only if it is warm enough for shorts, sleeveless tops, etc.)
I don't have any ink, but my own offspring see tattoos on family members, friends, neighbors, and other adults. Time to clutch your pearls: our pediatrician has a butterfly on the nape of her neck and our priest has a tattoo on his bicep from his days in the Armed Forces of his native country (we saw that during the youth group camping trip). |
| Agree that it is fine as long as it isn't a risque tattoo. |
| A visible tattoo? I have one but you can not see it and I am a healthcare professional. A teacher having a visible tattoo is okay as long as it is tasteful and not gaudy and offensive. Male or female I feel the same way. Why did you ask this question OP? |
Why does it matter if it's a W feeder? As a teacher in a non-W school, should I be covered from head to toe with tats? |
| I love tattoos, especially full sleeves, but unless you're a bartender or barista, I think you should cover them up for work. |
| What about daycare teachers/assistants with tattoos? Whats a W feeder school? |
OP here - my DD is in college for education and has several tattoos, none of which were visible until this latest one. It's a flower on the inside of her elbow area on her lower arm. She says it doesn't matter and if there is a problem she can always wear long sleeves. I expressed my concern but it isn't offensive and it's her body and it's already done so whatever I say doesn't matter at this point. Just curious what the general population thinks. FYI, we are a military family so my DH has several tattoos and many of our friends do as well, visible and covered. I myself don't have any and neither does my other DD. My DS has expressed wanting one but is not old enough yet. |
It matters because parents at W pyramid schools tend to complain about everything that they can. My friend who was visibly pregnant was asked by her principal (at another school) to wear a wedding ring to prevent any awkwardness. |
