Teachers with Tattoos

Me either. Doesn't cross my mind.

I don't have any ink, but my own offspring see tattoos on family members, friends, neighbors, and other adults. Time to clutch your pearls: our pediatrician has a butterfly on the nape of her neck and our priest has a tattoo on his bicep from his days in the Armed Forces of his native country (we saw that during the youth group camping trip).

Why does it matter if it's a W feeder?

As a teacher in a non-W school, should I be covered from head to toe with tats?

Yes, OBVIOUSLY. Everybody knows that all non-W schools are Ganglandia.

+1

I saw an assistant principal with a tattoo on her ankle. butterfly I think. Personally, I agree that all tats should be covered at work (unless you are a bartender or work in a tat parlor).

Most tattoos are trashy.

My DH, brother and BIL have tats. I don't. Theirs are always covered for work.

Other side of the river. Wootton, Whitman, (Winston) Churchill or W.J.

Yes, MCPS. And not Wheaton!

It matters because parents at W pyramid schools tend to complain about everything that they can. My friend who was visibly pregnant was asked by her principal (at another school) to wear a wedding ring to prevent any awkwardness.

That must be a common thing. My friend in another county wore a wedding ring too, but I think she did it on her own.

In 1964, I could understand the need to do this, but it bugs me that it is still necessary in 2014.

Stop trying to make this happen.

Explain to your daughter that *some* people judge others with tattoos and that she should keep this in mind before getting any more ink...especially if it will be in a visible spot. And she should plan to cover up ant tats when she goes on interviews as many principals interview tons of applicants and will likely be inclined to hire the more clean cut looking candidate (despite what anonymous posters in DCUMland will tell you).

Whoops! You're right! The W schools are Wheaton, Watkins Mill, Whitman, and Wootton! I'm so embarrassed.

If the principals limit their hiring to candidates without tattoos, they won't have a lot of candidates to choose from.

Oh, hell no.

You, I like.

Whitman, dear.

To 20:32 - Nonsense! Most people do not have visible tattoos. Principals most certainly can find teachers without visible tattoos.

Right! So, are stuck-up parents like you in W schools ok with teachers having "educational tattoos"?
