I don't have any ink, but my own offspring see tattoos on family members, friends, neighbors, and other adults. Time to clutch your pearls: our pediatrician has a butterfly on the nape of her neck and our priest has a tattoo on his bicep from his days in the Armed Forces of his native country (we saw that during the youth group camping trip).

Why does it matter if it's a W feeder?

As a teacher in a non-W school, should I be covered from head to toe with tats?

It matters because parents at W pyramid schools tend to complain about everything that they can. My friend who was visibly pregnant was asked by her principal (at another school) to wear a wedding ring to prevent any awkwardness.

I hope she didn't comply. That's offensive.
-signed someone who is married and often doesn't wear a wedding ring due to eczema and/or swollen joints. It's no ones business what the lack of a wedding ring means.

My recommendation to a teacher with a tat would be to keep it covered. For right or wrong, tats of any kind are subject to varying interpretations by the people who see them. I think someone without a tat would be viewed as more professional and qualified than someone with tats.

FWIW DS's teacher last year had a tattoo and a nose piercing, both pretty understated and mostly covered. She turned out to be the best teacher he has had and will probably ever have. You can't judge a book by its cover, but often times people do, unfortunately.

Can someone please explain what a W-feeder school is??? (Didn't want to quote all the PPs, as they're way long, but it's mentioned in this thread.)

Me too.

It's an elementary school or middle school in Bethesda or Potomac.
