| There is a topic about bad campuses already but has anyone been surprised by any particularly nice ones lately? |
| i really like columbia's - in an urban environment yet partially 'walled off' to give a campus-like feel inside unlike other urban schools. |

There was a lengthy thread on most beautiful campuses a few months back:

| Lehigh has a beautiful and varied range of architectural styles -- surprising to me as people justifiably laud the school for its engineering and business programs, but rarely mention the campus. |
| College of charleston was pretty stunning when we visited. Tucked right into that beautiful city. |

Christopher Newport
It has a charming campus with all the modern conveniences. |
| I love Virginia Tech's campus, Cornell's and Princeton's are pretty too. |
| We loved Furman. Wish it were a more selective school. |
| St. Mary's College of Maryland. Charming little campus on the beautiful St. Mary's River. |
| Syracuse. UConn. |
| University of Richmond. We didn't expect such a beautiful campus! My DD chose not to go there and is headed up to the NE, but we were all pretty impressed with the Richmond campus. |

University of Texas at Austin is a nice campus in an awesome city. There is tons of stuff to do near campus.
Washington University in St. Louis has a gorgeous campus, with a fun neighborhood around it. The accommodations are like Disney World. |
+1 for UT Austin. It is a really pretty campus, and it's designated land was carved out before the city built up around it, so you get lots of quad and landscaping on the "40 acres" but then are steps from a the fun part of downtown. Best of both worlds. |
I found it more "self-selecting." We would have been very satisfied if our kids had chosen to go to Furman. |
