Great/Surprising College Campuses

Washington University in St. Louis.

I expected a boring Midwestern campus and was blown away by the GORGEOUS campus adjacent the largest urban park in the country.

Undoubtedly the most beautiful campus among Top 15 schools.

Not really. Just the most insecure and self-promoting.

UW Madison - Observatory drive overlooking the lake or sitting on the terrace at the Union also with a beautiful lake view.

Virginia Tech. Beautiful. I had never been there before

I found it more "self-selecting." We would have been very satisfied if our kids had chosen to go to Furman.

+1

Well why are relatively few selecting it? It is a lovely campus near a cute town with a faculty respected for its focus on undergraduate teaching. But it's acceptance rate is over 75%. Other small schools with comparable SAT ranges have acceptance rates below 50%. DC really likes the school based on our visit, but we wonder what other people may know that we don't.

Maybe because its name sounds like a fake university like Adelphi or Strayer.

+1 for Furman

For the pp who was worried about rankings/acceptance rate- my sibling went there, really liked it, and then went to grad school. Their roommate went to medical school.

+2. Another vote for Furman.

As an alum, it warms my heart to see someone listed UConn on DCUM! Big state school, but much prettier than Maryland.

Speaking of Connecticut, the main part of the Yale campus s beautiful -- gothic structures, lawns, etc. -- would never know you were in New Haven.
