That's pretty impressive if it's 28 and raining. |
Maybe it's Centigrade. |
Meh. VT certainly has a "look," but I can't see how anyone would put it up there with some of these others. Even within Virginia, Richmond is certainly quainter, UVA more historic and stately, and Chrisotopher Newport more surprisingly pretty. |
I had the same exact experience when I visited my SLAC in CA. FLOWERS EVERYWHERE! The school has never looked so good. My donations at work |
DC loved the look of VT, too. He liked the fact that the buildings all faced to drill field. He liked that all buildings were made our of Hokie stone. He was ecstatic about the place. Also we visited on a lovely day while school was in session so he could meet professors, talk to students, and see all the busses picking up students taking them to their next stop |
| Scripps College and some of the other pomona schools. |
So it is a beautiful school because it has limestone buildings that face a quad? DC was impressed by the busses and presence of professors? You're describing every college tour, from Auburn to York College. I don't mind the WUSTL boosters and the people who call out random schools, but Hokies are the worst about their school (we are glad you liked Tech when you went there). |
Completely agree. I found VT to be imposing, massive, and industrial looking. |
Our younger DS felt that it looked like a prison! |
|
University of Florida has a beautiful campus. Because it's in central Florida, it has that mix of palm trees and more northern vegetation. And it's warm there most of the year! |
| University of Miami had me wishing I could go back to school. |
Didn't go to VT. Went to Harvard. Husband went to Yale. We did the VA tour - UVA; Wash. & Lee; VMI; William & Mary; JMU; and VT all in one week. I am not a Hokie but was very impressed, as was DC. He hated the other schools. Same week; same tours; same heat; same weather. And I can even tell you that's not "limestone" it's "Hokie stone" because I was listening during the tour - you have your own two quarries. So there! I was very impressed - signed, a non-Hokie (BUT GO VIRGINIA STATE SCHOOLS!). |
Silly person. It started as a land-grant military school. That's why it looks like FUMA and VMI. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virginia_Tech. |
Oh, so no wonder it's ugly. |
Yeah, I know, it's difficult to get into, especially as an Engineering Major or one of the three other hot areas. Hope you were accepted to a place that you like. In the meantime enjoy some beautiful pictures of VT (and, no, I'm not a Hokie - I've seen the campus only once and loved it). https://www.google.com/search?q=virginia+tech&rlz=1C2CHFX_enUS509&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=Ate8U47uBo6ayASf9oC4CA&sqi=2&ved=0CAcQ_AUoAg&biw=1920&bih=947#facrc=_&imgdii=_&imgrc=46tToIsbY9hZyM%253A%3BAU8wElT7FPxwWM%3Bhttps%253A%252F%252Fcarousel_photos.s3.amazonaws.com%252Fassets%252Fvirginia-tech1-6de9d094fb57b0b926b6fc9c542bd4e2.jpg%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.collegeinsideview.com%252Fvirginia-tech%252Fliving-environment%252Fhousing%252Flee%3B1014%3B760 |
