Didn't ECNL numbers drop as well (which seems to be the fact always left out)? |
My kid plays on a top GA team her tram gets more looks than most ECNL teams that are the same age. Something i do know is the top clubs can get players recruited and it doesn't matter which league the play in. Also I don't understand why parents think the number of recruiters attending an event is a good or bad thing. The only one that matters is the one looking at and in contact with your kid. |
exactly for GA which is what we have all been saying about the GA only has a few good clubs, like less than 15. if you don't play play for a Champions Club team or a team in the playoff, the chance of getting recruited in GA is almost 0. But in the ECNL, the attendance at all their showcases are so good, more teams/kids get seen at all their showcases. the numbers prove it. it is just a fact. I don't understand how you can't see that the more coaches at a showcase is not a good thing? more opportunities to be scene. pretty obvious. |
It's the small fish, big pond effect. The goal for players at a showcase is to stand out from the rest of the crowd. And not to stand out to hundreds of coaches but to stand out to the few coaches you have already been in contact with and are on their radar already. Exposure is not the issue. Most of these coaches will attend both ECNL and GA events. The challenge is standing out and getting noticed. For some players, they will be able to stand out more at GA events. There is no one size fits all for everyone. |
And ECNL has about 40 good clubs ... yes more than GA ... but rarely are these kids getting noticed at a showcase and then the coaches contact them. If the coach has already been in contact with the player, they will go watch and showing well in front of them helps their recruiting effort. Less than 10% (and that might be high) get recruited because some coach just happened to be watching a game and saw a player and then started recruiting them. And the 60 clubs outside of the top 40 (or the 80 clubs outside the Top 15 in GA) are not the reason those college coaches are going to the showcases |
Yes ECNL dropped too. Recruiting budgets are getting squeezed and colleges are using the transfer portal and internationals to add players. Recruiting of HS players is shrinking across the board. |
I’m my honest opinion, the fact that there are constantly one leagues parents trying to diminish the other shows me that
A) Your kid plays on a non-national ECNL club and you are hanging on by the badge. B) You are saying the two leagues don’t compare, but then show data comparing the two leagues. There can be two leagues. The same message stands. top clubs in either league rule. |
only 1 showcase dropped a few coaches. other than that, every ECNL showcase INCREASED college turnout. facts. this year will be really bad for GA |
Soccer wire had a really good article on the upcoming recruiting changes and the landscape moving forward. Because college rosters will be limited to 28, and they can offer all 28 full rides, college coach's will not be tossing out large nets to commit as many kids as possible hoping that a few will hit. They will be reducing their watch lists from around 80 to 30 which means they're failior rate will have to be much lower. A majority of the D1's will choose to rely on the most prominent ECNL clubs that have the highest rate of turning out top talent and national pool players. Also keeping their already deeply connected club director's close as a pipeline for top talent. It's already the halves and halve not's in recruiting but this gap will get even wider going forward. The best way to get committed D1 is to play for a top ECNL club in the country that competes regularly in the playoffs and preferably wins national champions. The historical top clubs have coaches and directors that communicate regularly with college coaches and their endorsements will now go farther than seeing kids at low level ga showcases. These will be the players dropped off the watch lists and parents and players will be left spinning their wheels to be even looked at at all. |
More ECNL propaganda/wishcasting ^^^^^^^^^^ If they are so dominant, it wouldn't be even needed. |
Except the roster limit may not actually stay in place. |
A quick voice of reason in the midst of all of the gloating, low blows, and snobbery (i.e., your player must not be very good, your club isn't one of the top 15, etc etc).
As I have watched two of my daughters navigate through the recruiting process, the fact of the matter is, players get recruited from all types of teams.... from top to lower level ECNL teams, GA teams, NPL, etc. It's not hard to get your daughter in front of coaches (ID Camps, showcases (with their team or guest playing), and invites to league games). At that point, if she can play, she can play. Sure, added exposure helps, sure playing at a high level is key in development... but in no way is it absolutely necessary to play on the top team in the top league to get noticed. I personally know a lot of girls that are committed to P4 teams that currently play on ECNL/GA teams with losing records. You also don't need to play in front of 100 coaches (not that it is a bad thing) ... you just need to play in front of the RIGHT coach and making that happen is a process players and parents can navigate pretty simply. Apologies for the deviation from the forum topic, but I figured that ship had sailed a while ago... |
Then, this is BAD for boys ECNL. |
facts bounce your narrative...but go ahead https://x.com/ImYouthSoccer/status/1913037261719183828/photo/1 |
Just ECNL? Grow up idiot |
