How will Wootton or RM be affected by new high school in Crown Farm?

Yes, construction has started.

Where does it say that?

If you ever drive by the site, it’s obvious that construction has started. Genuine question: why be on this thread at all if you live someplace that doesn’t have you driving by the Crown area in a span of 3ish months?

I doubt any Wootton people drive there much except for the Rio triangle. But Wootton is affected.

Crown is right across the street from Rio…

But to get to business area of Rio, i don't ever drive past Crown high school site.

I’m guessing the point was there are “Wooten people” who live in Rio. They probably drive past the Crown high school site over the course of 3 months.

It’s already mentioned in the PP that “except the Rio triangle”. The rest of Wootton people don’t have to drive past crown high in 3 month time frame.

The question of how often people are driving past the Crown site isn't relevant. Wootton is included in the study because the neighborhood directly across from the school site is zoned for Wootton.

They’ll get over it. Boundaries need to be adjust in the interest of the school system.

Why would it be in the best interest of the school system to bus all KF kids to Gaithersburg HS when the new Crown HS is closer?

Because half already go there and it's literally a drive right up 355. It's quicker to Gaithersburg than RM. Should have been done years ago.

Large parts of KF are far closer to 270 than 355.
which large parts of KF are closer to 270 than 355? Anyways, if KF ends up at Crown, they don’t need to take 270 to get there.

If KF ends up at Crown, I hope the county and state do something about the Shady Grove Road-270 interchange, because it's a nightmare to walk/bike/scooter through. There's also no sidewalk on Omega Drive on the east side of the site. Also, you definitely wouldn't want students using the Omega Drive off-ramp as a shortcut. I am 99.9% certain that if KF ends up at Crown, it will be with bus service, but there will be students who walk/bike/scooter before or after school or to practice or whatever.

You just reiterated my point. The PP insisted that people who haven’t driven past crown site in the last 3 months are not affected.

KF is more likely going to Gaithersburg

Maybe. Or maybe not. It would most likely be school bus service either way, and Crown is closer. At this point, nobody knows.

Out of every single talk here, the one thing I will bet on all day long is the entire King Farm will be going to Gaithersburg. It's already stupid they broke up the neighborhood and Gaithersburg is closer than RM anyway.

Gaithersburg is closer to King Farm than RM, but Crown is closer to King Farm than Gaithersburg.

Gaithersburg is closer to King Farm than RM, but Crown is closer to King Farm than Gaithersburg.
Distance is irrelevant. The most important thing is which school needs middle class white and Asian kids. That's where KF kids will be sent.

Please stop spreading misinformation. There are four factors in boundary studies: capacity, proximity, demographics, and stability of school assignment.

They are both fairly close.

They need to rezone students out of Gaithersburg and RM to reduce overcrowding, not add more to either.

Definitely the town homes in Rio will be moved to Crown. Those go to Wootton right now.
