How will Wootton or RM be affected by new high school in Crown Farm?

Because RM uses their IB program to keep up the numbers and keep it a "good" school.

RM is a good school beyond the IB program. It has King Farm, Fallsgrove, Ritchie Park, College Gardens, Woodley Gardens, etc. The number of kids who take and pass AP exams is very high there.

Obviously you don’t know how to interpret data…

Where do you find data on RM that excludes the magnet program?

Yes, construction has started.

Where does it say that?

There is a lot of misinformation in this thread. I urge people to Google for more reputable info.

I thought it would start 2 years ahead of opening.

New high school buildings are now on a 3-year timeline.

If you ever drive by the site, it’s obvious that construction has started. Genuine question: why be on this thread at all if you live someplace that doesn’t have you driving by the Crown area in a span of 3ish months?

They’ll get over it. Boundaries need to be adjust in the interest of the school system.

Why would it be in the best interest of the school system to bus all KF kids to Gaithersburg HS when the new Crown HS is closer?

Because half already go there and it's literally a drive right up 355. It's quicker to Gaithersburg than RM. Should have been done years ago.

Large parts of KF are far closer to 270 than 355.

I doubt any Wootton people drive there much except for the Rio triangle. But Wootton is affected.

Any analysis of the AP program shows numbers of discrete students passing exams. We know how many magnet students there are…

It’s common people don’t go to Rio for three months too. Then there is really no need to drive past Crown.

If a student is in the middle of HS once Crown is completed, would they have to move (let's say just prior to senior year?) Or will they be allowed to finish out their time at their original HS?

I know some new schools use a gradual approach to moving students in.

They usually let rising juniors and seniors remain at their prior school.
