Who else voted against weed legalization for rec use in MD?

A vote against legalization is a vote for keeping it illegal, which means sending people to jail (Or at least subjecting them to the criminal justice system).

Do you feel there is something inherent about pot that it can't be regulated any other way than through criminalization? There are lots of nuisances in the big city -- noise, lights, trash. But we treat them as civil matters, we fine people. Why should the person who smokes pot in public be treated more harshly than the illegal dumper?

As far as I can tell, there is no regulation at all of pot since it's become legal. It's become a free-for-all. I am ok with fining people instead of arresting them but authorities have to actually enforce it. And they aren't. I don't live in DC but I work in the city and I've seen how disgusting its become with the smell and glassy-eyed stoners walking around everywhere. No thank you--I don't want that at home too. So maybe if people who want to smoke pot do it while respecting others (i.e. smoke at home, a party, a concert, whatever), I would be fine with it and would have voted to legalize it in Maryland. But since I don't smoke pot, and don't want to associate with those who do, I don't really care about it becoming legal.

So because it isn't effectively regulated one place, you feel it can't be effectively regulated anywhere? Can you say "logical fallacy"?

And remember, lives are being ruined solely by the fact that it is illegal. And making it illegal doesn't seem to keep anyone who wants to smoke it from smoking it.

I'm amazed this thread is still going. There's a lot of whiny and sore losers in MD and throughout the metro area. Weed will never be criminalized in the metro area ever again. Deal with it.
