Probably. But we as a nation have not conducted sufficient medical research because it's illegal (significantly, at the federal level), so there are difficulties getting funding to conduct the research. Additionally, since it has been illegal while alcohol has not, we also have decades of health information on both use and misuse. It's going to take at least a generation before we get a more accurate picture of what cannabis does to people.

There are lots of things that are bad for your health and others that we don’t criminalize, including guns, alcohol, cigarettes, skydiving, etc etc etc
We can criminalize violent behavior toward others like drunk driving or mass shootings. Smoking weed in the privacy of your home should not be a prison sentence, especially when it’s used as a means to disproportionately incarcerate black people.

No. Some of us are just asking that people smoke in their homes and not out in public while acting like a strung-out fool. I didn't vote for pot to be legal but not because I want people to go to jail. I don't care what you do at home. Or let's open up hash bars like they have in Europe. I'm all for that. But it is out of control how commonplace it has become and how the entire city smells like shit all the time.
