I bet you drink alcohol. Should we make that illegal, too? I'd rather be on the road with stoned drivers than drunk drivers.

I voted against it and I don't drink, thee are laws for driving impaired by alcohol but the laws are very vague about driving impaired due to mamajuana use and the number of certified officers who can test for it is extremely low.

There's a reason we aren't allowed to drink and drive: alcohol impairs judgement and reaction time. When people are stoned and drive...if they even leave their house, they drive slooooowwwwly. I've seen it firsthand. Drunk drivers are dangerous, stoned driving isn't really a thing. That's why there's no big campaign to educate the public about it. People smoke weed, relax, laugh and eat.

I'm voting for it.

Not as worried as the people I have actually seen driving in Maryland drinking a beer or straight up whiskey from the bottle. In MoCo no less.

Shouldn't smoke weed or drink alcohol before or during driving, but I think the people who do those things do it whether it's legal or not.

I'd rather be on the road with neither.

Stupid argument. I can't get you second hand drunk. Your weed pollutes the lungs of anyone who doesn't want to be exposed to weed. Children in households with weed users have detectable amounts of THC in their blood. It's disgusting.

And yet cigarettes aren’t illegal. One could argue the smoke from cigarettes is worse.

Cigarette use is banned in public spaces.

We need the same crack down on weed.

For it, bring on that revenue stream.

Now what are you smoking?? It is not illegal to smoke a cigarette while walking down the sidewalk.

Cigarettes do not emit psychoactive substances to unwilling bystanders that alters their perception of reality and can cloud their judgement like weed does.

I’m planning to vote against it, as another progressive Dem.

The toothpaste is out of the tube when it comes to alcohol and tobacco. That doesn’t mean we squirt more out. I don’t think we should penalize people harshly for having it, but I also don’t think we should encourage its use.

Why stop with weed! We should legalize heroin while we are at it!

Not even comparable. You could just let people grow their one plant and ban most public smoking like with tobacco. DC is a dump already so banning weed isn't going to dress anything up, but will free up law enforcement to deal with your violent crime and property theft problems.

Ha. Hahaha. Hahahahahahaha.Hahahahahahahahaha.

Agreed

I voted against it.

Pot makes you dumb. A little pot makes you a little dumb, and a lot of pot makes you really dumb.

It’s not in our interest as a society to be even further dumbed down.

Yes it is, actually.

Outdoor smoking is banned in Friendship Heights and that other little micro-municipality who’s name escapes me.

Only a stoner would make that argument.

Voted against it. I agree with folks worried about DUI. Fwiw I also feel DUI of alcohol should be very strictly punished.
