The blue 2018 version was fine; the funeral ensemble is atrocious. She looks like she's trying to be Jessica Lange in American Horror Story: Coven. I think she or her stylist was trying to glamorize the outfit with the gloves but it just ended up looking witchy.

This may have looked better with a hat similar to Sophie's or Camilla's. I am undecided on the gloves.

I like the Queen Mother's outfit here, the shoes and the jacket/coat dress.

Queen Mary's headpiece is rather scary, though.

I agree. Also George VI’s funeral was in February so it was much easier to dress for.

This is a very famous photograph - my parents had a Life Magazine compilation of its first fifty years in photos and I remember it was in there.

Did Queen Mary ever smile?! Meanwhile, the Queen Mother almost always seemed to be smiling, at least for photographs.

Not that Queen Mary would be smiling at a funeral for her son, but, a an aside, I don't think I've ever seen a photo of her smiling at any period in history.

I think she looks classic and appropriate. I could see this looking witchy on someone else but I think she pulls it off.

I love it. I think she looks absolutely classic.

One thing that just struck me is that because of the cape Meghan was more physically closed off from the rest of the family than she would have been in a dress with sleeves. The cape was like a cocoon. Particularly in the moments when she is with the other women and children and not with Harry, this has the effect of making her look particularly solitary. This is not a criticism and I also don't think it was intentional. But I think her image is striking to me because I think this was a particularly lonely and isolating event for her, especially as she was placed in a fairly prominent role but without the familial connections and history with others that the other had.

I think her appearance at this funeral will wind up being very memorable to people for better or worse. I personally think she looked beautiful and stoic in a very awkward situation for her, and I applaud her for sticking to her style instincts and looking like herself, knowing people would criticize her no matter what. Others will view her look as unacceptable and evidence of how she does not belong within the royal family. Either way, this look will be remembered.

I don't think anyone necessarily views it as "unacceptable"; it's not like she wore a bright red gown. It's just a matter of liking it or not liking it. That is all.

Some people view it as unacceptable. And it also seems that people's opinions on this look tend to closely track their opinions of MM generally. Just an observation.

I don't like Meghan and I'm the person who took her green outfit apart. Her funeral outfits were all good-looking and appropriate to the occasion. She did look like she was posing at the funeral but this has nothing to do with the outfit. All the dresses were good.

She looked amazing! The whole outfit is so classy.
I can’t wait to try to mimic it. Sans gloves of course.

Posing was at its best, tear wiping stoke was simply genius.
