Wouldn’t that make more sense?

not really. Why force people to wear masks when the cases are low? Covid is here to stay in one way, shape or form. Are you suggesting we wear masks forever?

I’m saying exactly what I said. I’ll repeat it for you for clarity: keep masking until there are no more reported cases.

Is that clear enough?

Covid is here forever. Nobody is going to wear masks forever.

NP here. So keep masking forever? I’m legit asking if this is what you mean. Because it is my understanding there will always be cases of COVID going around. I’m trying to understand whether there are genuinely people out there who believe we should all be masking, including children in schools, into eternity because COVID now exists.

Wouldn’t a better metric be deaths and hospitalizations though? If COVID essentially becomes a common cold (with vaccines and medications), then what is the point of caring?

The PP is one of these people who thinks masking forever actually is an option. She’s delusional.

Yeah, no. Covid will be here forever. You can mask up for your lifetime, your choice. I’ll vote out anyone who supports an eternal mask mandate.

Even countries with authoritarian rule seeking 0 covid cases can't achieve it -- China is having a big spike right now and has locked down inter-provincial travel. Getting to 0 is not achievable without extreme measures.

I can’t believe anyone is still following this theater. DMV is a half dozen countries across three state level entities. Enough to show no relationship between masks and case rate.

DC was one of the most restrictive and paradoxically highest. The surrounding counties to the west have had different mask policies in two different states and yet similar rates.

But those are just facts and evidence. Continue to live in fear of the world though. If you’re masked at this point, either you’re not vaccinated or a fool.

I have no issue with people being massless but c’mon - why cell masked people fools? Why the contention? Live and let live.

No, actually it’s not clear enough, that’s like saying we have to wear masks until the common cold finally goes away. Covid is here to stay and is not going anywhere so there will never not be zero cases what part of that don’t you understand ? do I have to repeat?

What’s your definition of “when Covid is gone”? Because Covid is here to stay just like the flu just like the common cold. You realize that don’t you? That would mean masks forever. I don’t think people want that.

It’s “gone” when there are no more cases being reported Duh.

Until then, yes, keep masks in place. This is a very binary argument. I don’t see an opportunity for obtuseness.

You should spend less time on DCUM and more time listening to experts. No one credible thinks COVID will be erradicated.

The MoCo Masked Karen. Too scared to go grocery shopping with unmasked people but happy to get so close to them to gouge their eyes out!
Even she knows, deep inside, that she will be just fine so close and that her rage is baseless. But, she has nothing else in her life….so masks on and gouging eyes will be her vengeance!

Single-handedly. You must feel so powerful! /s

Most people with common sense will wear masks inside public places until the virus becomes endemic and less lethal, maybe 3 years total, from the start of the pandemic.

There is no mask mandate so why the debate anymore. Those who don't want to mask don't. But, if you get covid, don't complain to us. If schools have more outbreaks, don't complain to us. Very selfish not to wear a mask indoors in a public place but selfish is why covid is here to stay. We can thank all those covid deniers who just want to pretend its no big deal for all the folks dead around the world and in the US.

Colds and flu were way way down last year. Clearly masking is a good idea.
