People are saying this because of a private jet. But this could be Duckworth, couldn't it? Chicago to South Bend is only like a 1 hour drive. And she may have figured it would be under the radar verse using a Chicago airport? Or just as simple as so and so's jet is in South Bend, you'll have to drive there to use it.

Whoever runs the twitter feed for Truman and Buddy Buttigieg (which is someone in the Pete/Chasten circle) tweeted about being on a plane.

This makes me think Biden is going to announce his cabinet picks as well.

I think it would be pretty sweet to have all the primary candidates' including Warren and Bernie either tape a message of strong support or (my dream) walk onto stage in clear support of the Dem Presidential candidate and VP.

Gay man does not = woman

Kamala declined.

I bet other women declined, too. Biden isn’t a sure thing, and the risk isn’t worth it.

Pete has nothing to lose.

And, he didn't win a primary until 2020 in South Carolina thanks to......African Americans.Quite frankly , if he wants to spend the rest of the summer justifying his choice of an unimpressive ex sorority Caucasian woman from Michigan, who's infinitely less qualified than the klobuchar and Warren and the minority women in contention so be it .

I earned $110,000 in bets during the Democratic by correctly predicting that Biden was going to end up clinching the nomination . I have had two separate bets for the general: A) if Biden picks a non minority ,trump gets reelected and I'll pocket $150k. B) if he picks a minority ,trump loses and I'll pocket $100k. Either way , I'm getting paid handsomely.

There's a dark cynicism in me that wants Biden to pick a white woman. I'm confident that on election night , trump's sparkly veneers will be what you'll be seeing.

I do agree with this. I think its high time women (and everyone else too) voted for the most experienced and capable leader. There is no point pandering to the white/women/suburban swing voters in the Midwest. Why can't those women think broader and vote for the more qualified black woman? Makes no sense nominating the lowest common denominator.

Um, ELIZABETH WARREN is as qualified as any of the black candidates.

Yes and her name has all but vanished , hasn't it ? I mean, the Reagan fan girl thing did her in. But, if she's isn't picked then why is whitmer ?

Her name all but vanished because she's white. Just like Whitmer's did, until it was confirmed she flew to Wilmington last week. No-one knows for sure what's going on.

Pete would be a great Secretary of HHS. Also a decent VP selection but it is not his time. Dude was just all class the way he conducted his campaign.

I read Grisham is angling for HHS and she is far more qualified than Mayor Pete. Maybe HUD.

Never said Warren is not equal to Rice/Harris. But Whitmer is not equal to Rice/Harris.

Whitmer is equal to Harris and arguendo more qualified than Rice. Hardly a "lowest common denominator." Yikes.

Whitmer knows next to nothing about foreign policy . Intelligence agencies constantly brief Congress not state legislatures . This makes right wing dirt bags like Matt gaetz more privy to sensitive info on America's defense, spying and foreign policy in ways that governors can only dream of . I'm not Harris constituent nor 'fan' . However , you have to be an idiot to out Harris, klobuchar and Warren on the same level as any governor . Unless , of course, you only believe whitmer to be better than Harris and Harris ONLY.

Why?

His educational and career background are both politics and economics.

No, her name vanished because her arrogance had her believing that she was going to be rewarded with the presidency after decades of unabashed Reagan fangirl-ism.

He may not have all the qualifications but the guy is whip smart and masters the details. I would love to give him a shot at re-tooling our health care system and constructing and selling a public option.

Not sure if anybody knows something but Rice is going past Harris on PredictIt this evening.

Probably just based on the dragging out of the announcement, which would seem to hurt Harris's chances. Most presume he's actively looking for alternatives to the frontrunner and that he personally prefers Rice.

I’d bet Pete is going to be head of the transition team.

So let's be clear: Biden's walking into at least two extraordinary national crises. We have also several international relationships that have eroded that need to be reconstructed, including with some of our closest historical allies.

To me, the fly-ins to Delaware are likely not about the VP post, but about having a cabinet ready to go on day-one (Whitmer, Buttigieg...) - America is literally in a state of emergency and a leadership void. We know this.

This is what leadership looks like - getting out in front. Planning. Preparing. We used to routinely do this kind of thing - both parties did, actually. But I believe that's what we're seeing.
