LMFAO

Congratultions LS..everyone left...you can have it now.

They could have had girls DA, but they chose ECNL instead. "SoccerWire previously reported on Virginia Development Academy removing its teams from the Girls DA in favor of the ECNL and Loudoun Soccer, another major Washington, D.C.-area club, declining a Girls DA invite in order to join the ECNL instead. " https://www.soccerwire.com/news/clubs/youth-girls/more-large-youth-clubs-leave-girls-da-for-all-in-ecnl-status/

No, they couldn’t work out a deal with Spirit. Loudoun was never awarded a Girls DA.

No, the deal with the Spirit was for LAST YEAR, not the 18/19 year. Read the article and you will realize that .

Ah yes, that is because Loudoun will end up losing boys DA because of DCU anyway, so in due time Loudoun will be "All In" with ECNL on the boys side as well.

Geographically, Arlington was a better add for the GDA than Loudoun. Gives GDA a physical presence across all of northern Virginia, from deep inside the beltway to Reston to Leesburg. I know girls who have moved to the Arlington DA teams because they are closer to home than the BRYC and Mclean ECNL teams that the girls were on before.

Most likely not loosing boys DA, because DCU will only be moving U15, U16/17, U18/19 to Bolen, but it will certainly keep them from getting full DA for sure.

Not a FCV dad...don't insult me....like the paid staff at LS insulted you with that post...lmfao

Sorry about that FCV Coach.

Lol, probably the one that has been frantically calling and emailing all those parents that are leaving begging them to stay and telling all of them how much better they are than the other clubs.

So they have ECNL now. Why worry about the past. Look at the future. That doesn't bode well for FCV DA don't you think?

ECNL is on life support

McLean 05 has been completely dismantled.
Loudoun 05 has been completely dismantled
McLean 04 was almost dismantled. Will be next year.
Bryc 05 in last place
BRYC 04 is weak
VDA players leaving for DA's

Where do you get your info regarding Mclean and Loudoun 05's? BRYC 04/05 are on the weaker side but their older age groups are very strong and solid. There will always be some birth years that have a weaker player pool while others are stronger. As far as I know VDA retained most of their players. Yes, there was some movement but definitely nothing out of the ordinary there.
It is still a good option for those that don't want to commit to the DA life style or happen to be Elite players but need more time to develop. I have seen several great ECNL that would beat many low end DA or mid tier DA teams. Just because your club is DA doesn't mean your daughter is on the superior team
quote]

Dude. ...stop being emotional. I'm telling you facts. Never said which one is better. 03 and above is not effected by DA like 04 and below are.

Do you see a trend or not?

I do.

OK, so following your logic:

WS 03 - worst in division, one of worst in the country
WS 04 - worst in division, one of the worst in the country

WS rising 06/07 - offering every player (almost) a spot, even non starters on weak second teams from other clubs

I am sure you are going to tell everyone how next year it will be better, maybe so, but facts are facts, so tell me again why DA is better than ECNL? Or should we all just call it what it is, FCV is better than the ECNL alternatives in the area. I do not see how WS is any better than the ECNL alternatives.

I agree. At this point FCV has the only true competitive DA platform in the region. Question is how long are they going to be able to hold on to DA and who is going to backfill in case they fold. Lack of field space and small younger player pool/ no younger age group will be too much to overcome

Heard from several people FCV looking to move practice to Fairfax for new season? Is that correct?

In Europe...its a national passion. Kids get club contracts and are developed in a manner that doesn't exist here. Complete immersion for a specific goal.

In America, we the parents, prop up the entire system. That's why you see the vultures circling.

We need real academies....much like boarding schools....invites into the academies after 8th grade via contracts.

From there, kids wash out when they show they can't hang.

No more nepotism

How many MLS or NWSL games have you attended? If you don't do that, the free academies will never exist in the USA. It's also not as black and white as you say in Europe. The American youth sports business phenomenon is taking hold there too. But at least the transfer market makes it worth the investment in academies there. It will happen here eventually, but will happen sooner if everyone on this and other youth soccer chat boards each had season tickets to the local pro clubs.

It is curious you left out Spirit 05’s in your Spirit is doomed analysis.

I love how people who have never even seen a team play think they can check standings and determine the talent level on a team - for this year and for next year. Yes, the 03 and 04 teams had terrible standings - because each had a number of players that weren't DA level. Many will in fact rejoin you in the ECNL, so jokes on you for DA bashing and saying the ECNL is better. And then both age groups also had gks nowhere near that level (one of which also be joining you down in the ECNL too).

So yeah, standings sucked because unlike FCV, WS kept with the development mission - for those players too. They didn't just give all the playing time to the DA level players. They gave them plenty of game time and opportunities to develop and maybe even become DA level. But more importantly, not just take their money and keep them on the bench like FCV did. That was just gross on their part.

I have seen all the age groups of current WS players - at one time or another, and the talent is there for all their teams. I know 05 and younger is the tipping point for the DA, but the 04 and older teams going into next year will be solid DA teams.

Even the atmosphere at WS is energetic and positive.

WS VA U14 will be better than all the NoVA U13 ECNL teams
WS VA U13, Arlington U13 DA, and McLean U13 ECNL all have players from McLean's first and second teams on their rosters, I suspect both WS VA U13 and Arlington DA U13 are better than McLean U13 ECNL
WS VA U15 picked up some new talent as well

I was under the impression most of the kids that were cut are staying at WS to play EDP aka DA2. Maybe 1-2 per age group joining ECNL from what I can tell....

The plan is to have a U16 EDP team other than that WS VA doesn't really have EDP teams

Several just won't be back - for varying reasons - in both 04 and 03.
