By 8th grade all the Aug birthdays will be playing on the team thats their grade in school because clubs wont want to deal with 9th grade players playing high school soccer on a team with 8th grade players. Also players would be aligned for college recrutiing.

Unfortunately you have to give the play down losers what they want when kids are young.

Is there a part about "Grade" on my DS MLSN registration that I missed?

Boys are different because theres international talent to compete against for roster spots. Also boys have biobanding and a true Academy development environment. What this all translates to is theres very few that thread the needle. Play down if you want but its not what generates interest.

Makes no sense. Players aren't dual rostered within clubs.

Most often a kid will just play up as a guest and be rostered at their correct age group and more often those "guests" will find there way on tournament rosters, but I've seen it happen to be rostered in league at both. But when that's happened, the player often ends up primarily on one team, anyway, once it sinks it trying to be on 2 teams is too much.

Some people just take a while to get reality into their thick skull.

But yes, this is what clubs will do. After a while they'll drop the hammer and say play on the team your grade or be demoted. Once this happens they'll play on the team thats their grade.

In what I've seen grade plays no role.

Thats because with BY nobody was able to play down a grade. Now with SY Aug/Sept birthdays potentially depending on when their school district started can. These are the ones that clubs will merged up to a coreect grade in school team over time but specifically before high school.

The way you define it, in BY more than half the age group "played down" if they played on age.

No clue what you're trying to say. You play on the team that's you're grade in school. The "problem" with BY if you want to call it that is Aug-Dec birthdays get forced to play on a grade up team and are misaligned for college recruiting. On a positive note being able to play on a grade up BY team and get noticed is 1000x better than playing on a grade down team in SY and getting ignored by college coaches.

Do you consider yourself a liar or a fool?

In which travel league are teams formed by school grades?
What evidence did you supply to the league in addition to your kid's DOB proof?

It's actually impossible to be misaligned for college recruiting.
Impossible.

The college recruiters are recruiting specific individuals and they know years in advance their graduating year.

Are teams going to do study groups together?
I'm trying to find a rational for grades to be important for teams

At our club: current U15 players born after Aug 1 but are in HS will be playing U15 again & those born before Aug 1 but are in 8th grade will be playing at U16. Not allowing dual roster for HS Aug/Sep birthdays.

Parent thought the club would align with the SY but that's not happening: 8th grade parents want their kids to play U15 again and the HS parents want their kids in U16. There are a lot more pre-Aug1 born red-shirts that will be playing with kids 'up' in the next grade. Parents & players are unhappy & the club doesn't give a F.

Our club wont even let a kid register for tryouts outside of their 12 month window that was assigned at birth.

It doesnt matter what they identify as.

I am sure clubs won’t want the “I’m special” exceptions pouring in… easier to make a blanket rule.

Customers will either leave the club or they'll complain so much that leadership will be forced to listen and play players on the correct grade in.school team.

The problem is idiots like age guy who doesnt understand how college recruiting works beating the play on a grade down team drum. Unfortunately even club owners arent that smart and can make mistakes. Hopefully they figure it out and address quickly playing Aug birthdays with their grade in school team.

Playing on the correct grade in school team allows college recruiting to work 1000x better.

Also playing on the correct grade in school avoids 8th grade teams with 9th grade players that leave the team for 3 months during the season to play HS soccer.

Dont disagree but some parents need to come to the reality that they may be on SY but on second team. That is where the problem is.

It's completely over, teams don't care about grades. Beyond the age of about 11, probably more difficult to switch clubs and play up then convince current club that your kid is ready for the challenge. You are the only one saying college recruiting is done like youth soccer is some school sport. It isn't, it's club with strong teams, weak teams, you could be the oldest or youngest on the team, doesn't matter. Players get recruited no teams. College coaches actual statements to clubs points out you are wrong. You need to invent another faulty logic to force grade year on youth soccer because college recruiting with transfers and foreign players is so much more on the player to market themselves regardless of where they play. You think college coaches are running around Europe scouting games? Lol

This is exactly what Ive been saying would happen for over a year. The more competitive the club the more it should translate into college committments. Because of this you'll see Aug birthday players wanting to play up on the correct grade in school team for college recruiting purposes.

Clubs have 2 options to address.

1. Play all August September birthdays on the correct grade in school team from a young age. This sounds difficult but all you have to do is ask players what grade they are in school in addition to a valid birth cert.

2. Dual roster August September birthdays on the grade down team and grade up team at the same time. Then gradually ween them away from the grade down team. By HS they should 100% be playing "up" on the correct grade in school team. This allows collge recruiting to 100% work for all players on the team.

There is NO SUCH THING as 8th grade teams or 9th grade teams or players in Travel Soccer
It's AGE GROUPS based on DOB Year/Month

Stop talking nonsense like a preprogrammed bot

Colleges don't recruit in batches.
They recruit individual players who have most times already reached out to them and gave them their information.

The best thing to do with players and parents like this is to put them on the grade in school B team but let them guest with the grade down in school A team at tournamants. This why their path is set but the parents get what they really want which is to watch their kid beat up on younger players.
