Grade guy state bureaucrat. Makes sense. |
Kids play up all the time, has little to do with college. Often the smaller clubs have only a good team every other age group. It is what it is so a bunch of kids have to play up. |
| For those who are playing SY based upon bday vs. your kid not being in that grade, how are your kids taking it? |
Ask that in English |
You could create your own thread JUST for that. The answer is it all depends on the situation. Some kids want to stay with their grade for social reasons. Some think playing on grade is needed for college recruiting. Others want to be on the best team possible and sometimes that's playing on age. And some just DGAF. |
How is grade and social reasons a part of travel soccer when the kids go to different schools and don't see each other outside training and games? |
| 255 pages when it is so few kids who (1) were born in August and September who (2) were sent to school "on time". Everyone in our area redshirts those ages. |
You seek company because you held your kid back looking for a short-term imaginary advantage over younger classmates? |
Your question is unrelated to the PP. |
"Everyone in our area redshirts those ages" is news to everyone |
Which has nothing to do with your question. |

What clubs will do in SY is Dual Roster Aug birthdays on the grade down team and the correct grade team at the same time. This will give the cheater parents looking to play down what they want. Then over time the club will suggest and more likely the kid will ask to play on the team with kids their grade in school. By 8th grade all the Aug birthdays will be playing on the team thats their grade in school because clubs wont want to deal with 9th grade players playing high school soccer on a team with 8th grade players. Also players would be aligned for college recrutiing.
Unfortunately you have to give the play down losers what they want when kids are young. |
Why did you post this? You made your guesses known and nobody cares because you have been so utterly wrong over and over. A bunch of clubs have said your wrong. Age means almost everything, leagues and clubs trying to get as many as possible on age from BY to SY. They said this, this isn't speculation. Why you need to let everyone know your opinion every couple of hours is crazy. This thread is suppose to be about how you are talking to your kid about moving down yet you keep trying to make it benefit you by pushing switching to grades. Youth soccer isn't grades, it's birthdates, 8/1-7/31 and best earn the right to play up same as before. Give it up, nobody is taking advice from this site and least of all you, they are talking to their teams in a case by case basis. There are no cheaters, only sore losers that complain about other kids taking their kids spots on teams. Have your girl play better than that August girl and all your problems go away and you can stop harassing kids into doing something that only benefits you and your daughter. No such this as lined up for college because coaches just look at performance and your school marks and test scores. They literally said they don't care the recruits age. |
Definitely not enough in this situation to matter. They can play up with friends or stay with their age group if the want to excel and play in college. So few that if your child isn't in this situation there is absolutely no reason to care. All this is driven by one person trying to helicopter his Sept daughter to be the oldest while saying being the oldest doesn't mean anything. If he didn't want that August girl off his DD's team so much he wouldn't care this much. |
Makes no sense. Players aren't dual rostered within clubs. |
