Despite the royal backdrop there really is a classic story going on here that most of us are familiar with. Dude marries a girl that the rest of the family doesn't like and she doesn't like the family either, and she pulls him away from his family and old friends into her life and her world. It's very classic.

This is a very stressful time for a new family. Lost of marriages break up during this time.

They don't seem to realize this. But both of them seem pretty juvenile and self-absorbed, so no one really expects them to have that much self-awareness to ask for some time off.

Ouch. Part of me thinks what's the big deal with some royals living quietly in Canada but I see the point. They can't be public and be in the public eye as residents of Canada, fairly or not. Because it disrupts the delicate balance of the monarchy in Canada. They'd be competitors with the Canadian leaders as symbols, someone who's not really Canadian but wanting the privileges.

Having said that, if they genuinely went for the low profile, quiet life on a ranch somewhere and rarely was out in the public eye as national figures then I can see that working out. But is that the plan?
