Travel Soccer teams around NOVA let's discuss

At U9 and U10, which is not the main focus of the NexGen announcement as far as I can read it, CCL didn't have some "travel distance problem" as some allege, as the teams in Northern Virginia would just play the same set of local teams twice, once in the fall and once again in the spring, more or less. They never had to do big travel down South.

At U11 and U12 is when the regional travel began, and between the fall and spring Seasons combined, you were supposed to travel around the region and play each of the other CCL clubs one time for a total of about 15 games, more or less. Talk among parents was that it was getting back to the league that the parents were unhappy about all the travel, especially down to Southern Virginia to play some very poor teams like Roanoke and Legacy. Rumor has been CCL was going to do something to fix it, and it looks like they're trying to now fix the U11 and U12 level by eliminating that travel down south to play those faraway CCL clubs, and hopefully replace it with a few new clubs up here who would have interest participating in u11 & u12 with the full member CCL clubs.

Other than that, I can't read much more into this without pure speculation and guessing.

We are looking forward to 2017 when we don't have to do an 8 hour car ride to play a horrible team like Roanoke.

If you think about it from their perspective, why would Roanoke even want to be part of CCL ? I could see if they were competitive like Beach, but to drive 8 hours every/every other weekend to get destroyed ?

Just have a 'buy' or have a sick-out. That is dumb as hell to drive that far. I feel an illness coming on...

Don't join the team if you can't make the commitment. You don't have to like the travel and you don't have to join the team.

You commit before you are given the schedule. Only a complete idiot would put a 10-year old (U-12 under the new birth year change) in a car for a 60-min game with a round-trip time of 8 hours.

So f-king not worth it. I can't believe the coaches of little kids put up with that shit either. But--I guess maybe even they got tired of putting the miles on their car...

ignore that CCL f'tard. he has been been beating a dead horse, and obviously represents a minority viewpoint among CCL parents. CCL has listened to parents bitch'n about excessive travel at young ages to play poor teams (good teams could make a difference, i personally enjoy watching my kid go play beach fc . . . get amped and make a car ride out of it), and ccl has responded as promised and fixing this stupid travel debate and mooting this guy. this guy is a douche. at our ccl club, you can't ask the TD to move your A team kid to an ODSL team . . . someone tried to do that at U12 and go down to a CCL2 team, but the club pushes back that it is not in the best interest of your child to play at that level. So unlike the inference from this douche, most parents stay committed and do all the travel to the CCL matches like idiots i guess, but of course they always have the right to complain about it and seek changes. if they hadn't complained so much, then CCL might not have made this change. who the f knows, but this has nothing to do with commitment. this guy is like a broken record.

Then you leave the club but your to fucking scared to walk away from whatever you think CCL is doing for you. Yes, CCL is making some changes but to bitch about something you freely walked into and yet were to fucking stupid to look at a map and think for a second what that might mean well you are just plain stupid.

It doesnt make the league right, but the utter ignorance here is amazing.

"What!?!? Yes I saw a clubs from Richmond and VA Beach in the league but I didn't know we actually drove there!!!"

Whether the travel is necessary you do realize how fucking stupid you sound acting like it caught you off guard right? I bet you are still
Complaining about a time share you bought once too. Do some research.

Losing end of a losing argument. Everyone has told you pages ago they knew about the travel, duh. Quit your whining over every poster that comes on here saying they want the CCL long distance travel to end for their young children. They stayed committed to the good of CCL, and got the bad fixed. They won, you lost. Get over it. The regional league is no more for the Zone 1 developmental ages where it matters most to families. They have a word for someone like you.

For 5009th time, my kids don't play in CCL so I don't give a shit about "winning" the "argument". I just happen to believe that anyone who come pains about something as predictable as travel in a particular league is laughable.

Those clubs that you hate driving to founded the league when it was VCCL. So, yes to join a team in a league that was fucking founded in South Eastern VA and then bitch about the travel!?! First world problem.

Losing never fun. You can feel like a winner now in your own mind, but go away with your retired viespoint. We fixed our league that you are not even part of. South Eastern VA soccer is passe . . . please stay down there lady.

Some parents are ok. Have them drive your kid to Roanoke. Usually far is like 1-2x a year. Half games should be home.

Everything in this thread is a first-world issue.

Again prompting the question: Why are you in this thread? Why are you not too busy solving problems like climate change, sexual harassment, terrorism, police shooting accountability, Fairfax County traffic flow and the lack of good barbecue in the region?

A few good old southeastern va barbecue sammiches would hit the spot right now

Hmmm ... I hadn't thought of this. So would the argument be that CCL is superior because it takes families to better barbecue places? That's not bad.

If you think about it from their perspective, why would Roanoke even want to be part of CCL ? I could see if they were competitive like Beach, but to drive 8 hours every/every other weekend to get destroyed ?

Without Roanoke, Beach, SOCA and the Richmond clubs there would be no ccl. They started VCCL because they were so far ahead of the other clubs in their area they had to go further for actual competitive games.

The better question is why the nova clubs threw their lot in with VCCL instead of doing their own thing, but I guess they liked the reputation and stability of the existing structure rather than jumping into the unknown. Personally I think the travel is ridiculous for the nova clubs given the number and quality of clubs in this area, but its ignorant to complain about the far flung founding clubs being in the league when it has been their league for 20 years.

But legacy and beach are CCL worthy. Roanoke ehhhh

so, how did everyone's tournament weekend go?

I heard the Virginia Beach tournament was canceled, yes?

Battlefield seems to have lost a lot of teams.

So why don't some of the CCL clubs just join NPL ? Maybe they needed Roanoke 20 years ago, not today.

We were at Battlefield U11B and, yes, a couple clubs dropped midweek. This caused a reshuffling of the brackets and some unfortunate scheduling. My son's team had an early game and an 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, so we had to drive out there twice. But at least NVSC got to put their A team in a lower bracket and stomped everyone. Nice job. Really.

We were in your bracket too! At least Sunday was dry.
