DA vs ECNL vs everything else

I did see that FCV 05 was advertising tryouts in Soccerwire.

Most of the movement is happening at the younger age groups and older NPL/NCSL level. 04/07's apparently are fine. No teams below 08 and struggling to fill rosters for older age groups. DA level will always have a full roster but you can't function as a club without viable player pool

Yes saw one for 06 as well. I heard they added a former ODFC team for the 05 age group

A ODFC team? Lol. FCV collecting players.

But I thought FCV was “awesome” at development.

I remember when Loudoun Soccer kids were interested in FCV. I guess those days have passed.

07s are not fine. Cannot field two teams and that’s why they bring in low level Evergreen team + coach. Some players are leaving too for other clubs.

This age group critical as these kids are now U12 and following year at DA U13.

And yet....they did. Stay with what you know. You know what they say about assumptions right?

My daughter is one of them. She was actively recruited by coaches from both ECNL and DA teams who had seen her play to switch to their '04 teams for the 2018-2019 season. She chose to stay at WS because she's very happy with the environment, she loves her coaches, she enjoys the connection to the pro staff and team, and her development this year has been off the charts. She and we are very excited to see what next year brings.

I have not direct experience with FCV management or coaches to judge the program from all the apparent hate the club has received here. But setting that aside, how can any club be in the DA and not have u9 or u10 teams? Is that not a requirement? How can a club with the almighty DA not be drawing a dozen talented players into their younger teams? The USA staff must be worried and praying this club keeps delivering in the results column at least. ECNL must be grinning widely.

There is one Loudoun 07 dad on here that won't stfu.

Good lawd dude. Go take your kids to the pool. Stop trying to push the narrative. You don't have the experience.

Sit down.

That doesn't change the low tryout numbers at FCV and it doesn't change the shrinking player pool either. Perhaps kids will come at DA but the message is clear, if you want your younger kids to develop, don't bother with FCV.

At this point they are desperate to show US Soccer they have a player pool and to keep investors in Germany happy

#1 saying by clubs who are average to get kids to stay.

I doubt the WS 04 & 03 will be good at U18. Someone above stated these DDs couldn’t & didn’t make Loudoun or FCV teams. Sloppy seconds?

Again, judging a start up club based on two age groups after year one. The rubber hits the road with 05 and 06 age groups. FCV already had 04 and 03 talent with little incentive to leave. But as people are alluding to with tryout numbers there is little interest in FCV at the younger ages.

I do agree that 05 (or maybe 06) and younger is the true turning point for the DA as being the 1st stop for talent, but the 04 and older ages incldue girls who could make any team - some who did

The field access issues and talent pipeline issues have to be concerning to US Soccer. But even if they don’t pull FCVs DA license, the club is bound to implode under their own toxic weight.

That is such a blanket statement. Are there girls from that level? Yes, there are some, but there are also DA level girls. Don't through the baby out with the bath water.

And there has been some consolidation of talent as well.
