Ugly collar.

I love the whole thing. Quirky, youthful, and fun.

The shoulders are amazing

+1. I love that jeweled jacket.

Root beer! It was root beer hard candies I was trying to remember!

This outfit isn't cute or fashionable. If Tiff or Ivanka would have wore this everyone would be tearing it apart. Granted, it is probably this woman's style, but it is weird and not pretty. But she looks fine, groomed, put-together. I guess you can only wear ugly clothes and have it be acceptable if you also aren't trying to look sexy and have fake blonde hair/breasts.

I can objectively say I agree with you as a Biden supporter. II think the outfit itself is not amazing and had a Trumpster worn it it would be torn apart. It is frumpy.

I mean on this thread most people are agreeing that the coat and dresses were ugly. There is one rabid loon who thinks they are in the know about fashion that keeps trying to say otherwise. And the PP up thread that doesn’t understand that of course the magazines are going to trip over themselves lauding this because at this point everyone wants to support Biden.

Ultimately none of it matters. Fashion is a personal choice. She liked it. We don’t. 🤷🏻‍♀️ There’s no need to try to convince people otherwise or play thread police.

Right, all those fashion journalists are secretly snickering at that $5,000 Miu Miu coat.

Good! Glad you agree! 😁

Bernie Sanders.

He outshone everybody with this unique fashion sense.

100%!!! Where is his hat though?

Not my cup of tea but they're young and should be having fun experimenting with fashion.

No. They look like pioneer women

+1 That’s not fashion. Quirky yes, but not fashion.

You may not like it, but Batsheva and Ulla Johnson = fashion. And since when is quirky equivalent to not fashion?

Like them or hate them (and I like them), it is so refreshing to see young women in the president’s orbit not dolled up to look pleasing to men.

OMG, Yes! And they're all different. No more cookie cutter looks.

Anonymous wrote:For Dr. Biden’s outfit, I did wonder about the sparkles and the fit. She is in great shape, but her outfit was a bit tight. It occurs to me that she was put in some kind of bulletproof-ish garb underneath her dress - at the last minute - therefore making everything fit awkwardly.

Props to her for walking around in those heels all day, though!

Former lingerie salesperson here. My first thought was that she needed a better bra—one that minimizes a bit. Her bra looked pointy, which when coupled with slight hunching (probably due to the cold), contributed to the coat’s poor fit. I like her—and am happy that a fellow academic is First Lady—but this was my quick thought when she came out.

The coat seemed to cause issues. I saw someone helping her button it and I saw later it was unbuttoned toward the bottom. Oh, well. Humanizing.

PP here, yes the placement of that button combined with pointy bra created the ill fit.

She probably hadn't tried on the whole outfit with a kevlar vest beforehand. You could sometimes see when she walked a thick line across her pelvis area that must have been the bottom of a vest.

I think what struck me about what these young women were wearing, is that they seem to have unique points of view, and are most definitely not trying to fit into whatever other people think they should be wearing. I think some of the looks are hideous, but they very clearly DGAF are being true to themselves, and that is pretty refreshing.

OMG she is beautiful. Total girl crush.

I was trying to express to my kids the wonder of J Lo. I cried during her song.

I thought she was so cheesy. So 2008. It was a weird choice...a celebrity who made it about her, rather than about the solemn occasion that it was. So flashy and tacky.

Loved Garth Brooks. Loved Biden's speech.

FP Obama didn’t seem to like like JLo’s performance.
+1. I thought everything was flawless except Garth brooks’ pants were inappropriate and trying to make it about himself, and j lo’s performance was horrific
and embarrassing.

She looked like one of the orange skin family. Other that that, I liked when she said a few words in Spanish.

I think it would be better without the ruffle bow.

I actually love the ruffle bow and the whole look.

I'm all for a little camp, but she looks like she's apprenticing for Liberace. Just not the right time/place.

I don't like J Los look at all. It looks like she belongs with the previous admin.

PP who wrote that it quirky, youthful, and fun. I would have indeed criticized Ivanka for wearing it. Ivanka is a late 30s mother of three, serving as advisor to the President, with a large bust, heavy eye makeup, and boring conventional flat-ironed bottle blond hair. She would have looked silly. This girl looks adorable in this outfit with her slim youthful figure, natural curls, fresh face, and tortoise shell glasses. Like a smart, slightly nerdy art student. Love it.

Quirky is okay, but please, when wearing a full-length dress, wear a full-length coat, too.

Did you see Meena's insta about it? They wanted to dress like Kamala when she was little - there's a photo of Kamala wearing a faux fur jacket when she was their age. SO SWEET.

Totally cute! Love what look like Baby Docs too!

I love this so much! Those girls are precious!

That is so sweet!

Can we stop saying she "DGAF?" She is 21 in a $5000 Mui Mui coat. She obviously put thought into it and wanted to make a fashion statement

Ok, “DGAF about what people with mainstream tastes think”... is that better?

Yes, I love that too.

That was the point I was trying to make. I think it is wrong to focus on the lack of makeup on someone's forehead. ANd so shallow!

Lady in tennis shoes has a terrible fashion sense. Oh my

But who is the lady in the pink coat? She looks gorgeous!!

The great thing about fashion is that we don't have to agree. And clearly we never will.
