What's your controversial food opinion?

Sausages, ribs, cured meats, and chops. Some of the very best soups use pork bones/broth. Amazing smoked and brined chops are way better than nearly most steaks, and I've had A5 kobe while in Kobe Japan. Give me a good chop any day of the week over steak or chicken. I do love fish though, so I can't quite state that pork is better than fish.

Nothing controversial here.

As Homer said, the pig is a “...wonderful, magic animal.”

What are your top 5 meatless meals for lets say your high school football playing son...meaning...he eats a lot? Thanks.

Legumes and grains and veggies. x 5

Chana masala
Red lentil stew
Dal tarka
Veggie/bean chili
Hummus and veggie wraps.
Black bean sweet potato tacos (ridiculously delicious with avocado crema)
Spaghetti with "meat" (cauliflower/walnuts/mushrooms) sauce
Chickpea salad sandwiches
Udon noodles with veggies and tofu
Tofu scramble with avocado/tomato
Plant based meatloaf

I could go on...

A whole food plant based diet can be challenging at first, but really, it's not that hard. And it doesn't have to be filled with garbage.

The entire plant based diet is garbage.

Consider trying a nice fresh natural peanut butter lightly spread inside a sharp cheddar quesadilla.

Ew WTF?? Now that is controversial.

I KNOW.

But think about trying it sometime. It's not what you would expect at all.

You sweet thing. You really are pushing this!

OK, we might need a separate thread for the people you want to win over.
I have Ortega soft tortillas, shredded cheddar cheese and Jif. Will that work? Or do I need top tier ingredients?

Sure! I think natural peanut butter is better, but I be that would work. Or at least be worth a go.

How sweet of you to be willing to try! (I might just be crazy. I think I may have said it was the best thing my ex left me? Never would have tried on my own.)

Sorry about late reply -- I've been ODing on Political Forum and living in the land of migraines.

Omg I’m invested. I really want PP to come back and tell us what she thought. There is no way I could bring myself to try this.

I have no desire to try that but I always liked peanut butter with a thin spread of butter on the sandwich too...makes the peanut butter creamier. I still make it (but only when no one else is around)

But did the PP try it?? I still want to know what she thought! I saw one poster said it was ok and then added salsa. Which kinda just made it sound so much worse. I might sneak this into the next quesadilla I make, feed it to my DH, and see what he does...

PP here with the Jif/shredded cheddar and ortega kit. I have NOT yet, but will after my workout today. That's a promise.

I am so excited!

For me, it's only really good with extra shard cheddar and natural peanut butter, but people can try all sorts of things and see. More data points. Love it.

Can we please get a status update on this

I also want an update.

I had a bacon cheeseburger with peanut butter on it once (in New Orleans) and it was amazing. So I can kind of see this working.

Most desserts are trash- at someone’s dinner party or at a restaurant. ESPECIALLY at restaurants: bland cheesecake, blah tiramisu, lava cake that tastes like chocolate syrup. All desserts should be ice cream or they should be served with ice cream, preferably a high-fat vanilla. Affogato, brownies, chocolate chip cookies or a fruit crumble WITH ice cream. I will make exceptions to the infrequently well-executed lemon bar or lemon-meringue pie.

Yes, thank you, someone finally said it.

It is a nice place to sit but the food is total blech.

It is refreshing to see a topic like this in the Hottest Topic list other than political bs.

Also. The concept of chicken wings is gross

Totally agree. There's a commercial for Buffalo Wild Wings that shows wings being tossed in various sauces -- I always think "salt, fat and gristle. Yuck."

+1

I like sweet potatoes and I like black beans, but the PP’s “Ridiculously good” comment about her tacos is so silly. A ridiculously good taco would be one with crispy pork carnitas or juicy, smoky carne asada.

Sometimes I think being plant-based is just another way to display your “virtue”. These people will insist their sad plate of kale and seeds is just “insanely delicious.” I think a lot of them are trying to convince themselves they don’t really want a luscious piece of meat instead.

Your acceptance of lemon bars disqualifies you from sharing food opinions ever again.

Agree with you! She goes on and on about what desserts should be to include brownies and peasant desserts with high sugar in it! Unelss you've seen and eaten high quality desserts in Italy or Vienna, you don't know what you are talking about.

American desserts do not hold a cande to central European desserts.

YES, my favorite dessert is fruit, cheese, and ice wine

DP. Them’s fighting words. Try The Barefoot Contessa lemon curd incorporated into a bar. Delicious. That is my controversial opinion, and I am sharing it.
