Bullis Lacrosse Situation

If there is a year for Prep to win it, this has to be the year. Given the recent drama at Bullis and Hall of Fame Coaching stepping down at Landon, GP is the favorite

Don’t sleep on sta (rapidly improving) and sssa (always competitive). Not sure if the GP coach has proved to be better than any coach in that league.

They've been saying that for 4 years qnd nothing. Dads at Columbia and Congressional bragging how great Prep's 2019 class, and they've been a bust.

4th place every year.

MD kids still picking Gonzaga over Prep.

I agree with your assessment about Urick. I am a Mater Dei parent, however, and can tell you that for the last five years or so (since economy improved), the majority of the Mater Dei kids all choose Prep. This fall, 17 kids entered Prep and 16 Gonzaga. Last year 27 Prep, the year before was about 22 and about 29 the year before that. Next Fall, Prep May get as many as 30 from Mater Dei.

Folks you must be sleeping under a rock.

More kids play lacrosse than simply just the Mater Dei kids.

If you really think GP is going to become elite again based solely on the fact that the MD kids are choosing GP over Gonzaga, well then, thats a problem.

GP needs to do a better job coaching and developing their own players. We all know the MD kids generally are 8 - 16 months older than most of their peers at other schools.

Mater Dei kids are peaking in 8th grade when their adantage of hitting puberty earlier than their peers at other schools is at its greatest. Most aren’t that great by junior year.

STA had a great year, and lost a lot of talent. SSSAS lost a lot as well. Bullis lost the STAB kid, but has a lot returning. Maybe Prep can be in the mix.

Urick is arguably the worst coach in the IAC in terms of what he's done with what he's had.

Bullis lost more than the STAB kid. The High Point verbal, left the school after his junior year and one of their better freshman who played last year has also left for MOCO public school. The Ohio State football commit has already said he won't be playing lacrosse in the Spring.

Bullis also graduated two stud All American defenders last year as well.

They won't be nearly as strong as they were in the past few years.

People are also talking about GP and GZ like it's the only option for kids from Mater Dei and other catholic schools. You're forgetting St. Johns which has established itself as a premiere team and great coed alternative to Prep//Gonzaga. It's now really more about SJC or Gonzaga for the best players from a certain demographic.

St Johns is a good team. Calling them a premier team is a bit of an imagination. Put together a string of WCAC championships and play a tougher non-conference schedule before you crown yourself as a premier program.

Most Mater Dei kids are typically deciding between GZ and GP and I don't ever foresee this changing until SJC shows a major improvement in its academic reputation.

Well you're pretty much wrong on all counts, but whatever. Also, not all the players from GP and GZ come from Mater Dei.

What certain demographic?

Bullis graduated couple of Seniors who were big contributors (2) and kid from STAB transferred back to STAB for his upcoming Senior season. No players are leaving Bullis for other schools - reports are just incorrect. None of the 6 freshman from last year Varsity are leaving. None of the Bullis players who also play club ball for DCE are leaving. The DCE coaches who are no longer part of Bullis are NOT coaches of these players at DCE. DCE 2021 is coached by Whitman Coach and Churchill Assistant Coach - both great coaches.

Dust is settling at Bullis after a dusty summer for sure, but only people leaving other than the three noted above are two assistant coaches - both to prep - one of which was not really a coach - missed month of season last year - more of a recruiter - and the other resigned back in May. No players will be following.

DCE and Bullis will co-exist - life goes on.

Stay tuned for couple of announcements on transfers TO Bullis for first day of school in September - life goes on.

Bullis vs. Prep Game will be good one to attend.
