Bullis Lacrosse Situation

Anonymous
Time to end this thread. The only 'Bullis Lacrosse Situation' in May 2019 is that Bullis won the IAC Tournament, they won the GEICO National Tournament, they have an excellent and honest coaching staff, Bellistri won US Lacrosse DC/Potomac Chapter Coach of the Year, and they have a ton of talent going into 2020. "Don't be distracted by criticism -- remember the only taste of success some people get is to take a bite out of you."

I always hear how fans of universities root for their “conference” if their school isn’t in the final; think NCAA basketball tournament. Or news outlets announce records by conference in ncaa bowl season, as another example.

Not so with this IAC conference. I would think Bullis winning those games would be considered a feather in the cap of the conference, as the most recent example? Another example was the undefeated Landon team of 2017; no credit or hint of Conference pride? The vitriol just amazes me. I was hoping for different as these are kids playing as hard as they know how and the posters are supposed to be adults? Guess not.

I do love this sport; just wish it was different in DC with all those involved. Count me as one old guy that his time has passed. Good bye to the helicopter and/or “has been/never was” parents. I wish you the best with the lessons you are teaching your children.

You age has nothing to do with this phenomenon as there was no Golden Age of warmer relationships between the schools.

As a long time IAC-watcher I can assure you that there has never been any "IAC Pride" or unity or anything like that ever. This pre-dates Helicopter parents by many, many years.

"Vitriol" is a word you could use. Near total "Antipathy" would be a very accurate description of the Prep - Landon relationship for decades.

About the best you'll get is indifference.

What surprises me is that new people come along and don't understand the history.

As a Bullis alum from longer ago than I care to admit, the above is 100% correct. Hated and still hate Landon, Prep and, to a lesser extent Albans. Complete indifference as to St. Stephens and Episcopal. This root for your conference nonsense is crap. When Maryland was in the ACC, I sure as hell wouldn't root for Duke (nor, for that matter would I now) no matter the opponent.

You're surprised that new people don't understand the history? Hmmmm....

I guess they could always ask someone. This is pretty common knowledge.

Although I guess, who would actually care how these schools relate to one another? You are only going to one of them.

And people waxing about how great it would be if there was more IAC unity are rarer than hen's teeth.

Let's try supporting one another instead of putting folks down.

Not gonna happen. Schools are too different from one another.

I found it funny that this thread has reared its head after a year.

Despite all of the detractors, The Bullis lacrosse situation is simple-they are kicking arse. IMO, they will run the table on the IAC until the class of '21 graduates.

Bullis won the IAC and the GEICO Nationals Championship this spring and went 5 - 1 in NHSLS last week. I would say the situation at Bullis has never been better.

Back to back IAC Champs and 3 out of the last 4. That's more of an IAC Lacrosse Situation.

After 38 pages, seems like the situation has worked itself out well and it's high time to put this thread to bed?

Except that the IAC has always been considered the Ivy league of local high school conferences.

And, Bullis is considered the Cornell College of Agriculture and Life Sciences of the IAC!
