I think that's a very rational and real fear, honestly. A lot of kids leave juvenile detention worse than when they entered. However, they didn't get him any real counseling, either.

They made a lot of changes after they found out, including separating the children by sex (and separating Josh entirely in his own room), bringing cameras in to the house, etc. They tried to marry him off young, and that fell through. Eventually they found him a wife, who is (so far) sticking by him.

How sick and useless. Your son is a pedophile and instead of getting him into counseling you think you can just 'keep an eye' on him? That is far past nuts. And I hate that people are blaming this on "religion". I am a Christian with a deep and abiding faith and I think these people are in a CULT.

A treatment facility is not the same thing as a juvenile detention center! They are expensive though, and the abuse happened during one of Jim bob's campaigns.

Yeah, treatment =/= juvenile detention. Not even close. But since their peeps believe in "conversion therapy", I'm not surprised they aren't aware of the actual options available out in the real world.

I would have so much more sympathy for Josh and what he did as a teenager (maybe, possible, well, still no) if he wasn't actively giving speeches that the the LBGT community weren't dangers to children. That's his line, that THEY are dangers to children, all the while knowing what he had done.

In his mind he feels he admitted, apologized, got help and is right with God. He does not feel the same way about the LBGT community. People engrossed in fundamental religion (of any kind) do not have the same mindset as you or I do. He would never make that connection, think of how he was raised and isolated.

Me either. Makes me wonder if Jim Bob knew what the police officer was involved with and thought he would be sympathetic which it turns out he was and swept the case under the rug. They likely all didn't realize the police report would not be sealed and probably relied on it being a juvenile offense. Jim Bob had complete control over the girls and so no worries they would ever say anything to the media.
