This was a real post on my neighborhood listserv

It is Hell's Kitchen in 1975. It is a ride on a crosstown bus at 3:00AM. It is the ravings of madmen and shut ins.
I love this quote - is it from something or did you make it up?

Tom Waits lyric, definitely.

I truly doubt anyone knows who I am b/c I am have not "gabbed" to anyone. And I know PP have accused me of being"incredibly mean-spirited" but honestly that was not my intention. I just thought her post was super-wacky and pretty darn funny, and other people would enjoy a laugh.
Also, I really don't think there is any expectation of privacy on a public list-serv that you post your name and address on. Obviously she had no problem with what she wrote.

If I had been wrong, and this was not a super-funny post, this thread would have died on p.1. But obviously other people find this amusing too!

As for Karma, and the threats that people have made against me -- all I can say is practice some deep breathing and don't take everything so seriously!

Signed, you know who I am!!!!!

I love your response! But seriously, if you're not commiserating with PineCone Mom, don't you think she and her friends are counting who is not coming by? Or is your neighborhood too big for that?

And forget that Richmond reality show - we need "The PineCone Moms of Bethesda". It would be a documentary on PBS, of course!

+2, and the OP keeps her privacy, while the person she is mocking does not. OP's actions are much worse then the complaining listserve writer.

What?? I have no idea who PCL is in real life. How in the world does PCL lose her privacy?? OP took out her name/kid's name.

This is absurdly bat-shit crazy, since I and many others have no frickin' clue who the PineConeLady is and we have no way of knowing from OP's post.

Your point is an utterly disconnected non sequitur without any rational connection to logic.

I don't know who pine cone mom is, nor do I care. She has as much privacy as she had after she posted to her listserv, and with any luck she has gained a bit of insight. I'm grateful to her for the entertainment, whoever she is.

PCL would feel humiliated reading all of these posts. But I guess that doesn't matter to you, OP. After all, it's only one person and it's her fault for posting in the first place, right?

I think I'll wander over to CafePress and make some PCL T-shirts. This is really catching on.

What is on a nieghborhood listserv deserves to stay there. It's an exchange between neighbors and it's reasonable to expect that your neighbors will not use it as a means to humiliate or mock other nieghbors.

Nothing that "Pine Cone Lady" wrote was harmful and her tone was thoughtful. Unlike OP who promptly cut and paste that message onto DCUM.

I'm not sure why so many people are rallying around the OP. She doesn't seem like a nice person - or at least no better than the poster she is mocking.

I am a nice person! I just have a sense of humor. And yes, I can laugh at myself too when I take myself too seriously.
