This was a real post on my neighborhood listserv

So the driver was obligated to wait to see if the child wanted to apologize?

Ditto on the silliness that abounds on neighborhood listservs.
Always surprised that the folks in my liberal and crunchy neighborhood routinely put out perfectly good items on the curb and list them as free rather than take their lazy, upper middle class hineys to the very thrift store they like to raid for deals on sale days.

Has anyone bothered to ask why a 6 year old is still in a car seat?

A booster, I guess....but a car seat???

And what was a pine cone doing in the car seat in the first place? Did the maid forget to clean out the car, or did the precious snowflake sneak the missile into the car specifically so he could launch a secret attack? If the latter, then this was clearly premeditated, and the Mother should consider securing legal counsel.

She might also consider saving up for therapy for her little one down the road...it's tough for kids to turn out normal when parents act like crazy people.

Today was not a good day. Had to leave DD and work on a Saturday, learned credit card had been stolen, and got period and bled through pants (tmi, yes, but it still sucked).

I would just like to thank PCL, LPC (lil' pinecone chucker), and OP for this utter gem of a thread. I've been snorting through my Pinot Grigio for the past 1/2 hour.

I think this thing is as crazy as the next person. But my six year old is in a carseat with a harness. She'll ride in a booster if in someone else's car bit in our own car, it's the carseat for safety. From looking at her friends, I see about most in high backed boosters, some in carseats with harnesses, some in carseats with a seatbelt and the occasional one in a regular booster. It's all good....

Well, this didn't come across my neighborhood listserv in Bethesda, or I would SWEAR that it sounds like my neighbor and her son.

There's a line that you don't cross- when someone posts a message with their and their child's name on it. They are doing it in good faith that their kind neighbors won't publicly shame them as you are doing here.

Sure, the message is stupid, but I look more poorly on you, OP. I also think that the website admin should not allow this kind of posting that is a kind of "public shaming" for other messages that were posted in good faith that they would not be circulated for widespread ridicule.

Soo...your kid still crying?

The guy was upset by a pine cone?! They drop from trees, after all? With how much force did he throw it? Maybe the Nats should draft him as a pitcher.

Maybe someone can make a commemorative pinecone ribbon?

FYI- it was the Westbook listserv.
