Not to be rude, but I was bit surprised by the low WISC score of your accepted child. How high were the VCI and PRI scores? If you don't mind sharing...

DC is 2E. Low processing was 16% which brought down the FSIQ. W/O the processing, IQ would have been in 137+ range. and I am thankful that they looked at DCs PRI and VCI and not just the overall FSIQ.

You weren't being rude, and I appreciate your question. In the past, I would have also questioned. 2E kids are extremely bright but often times (with some) they lose the train of thought due to the repetitive nature of the task or due to lack of interest - they've mastered the task, why keep doing more questions. However, research suggests that the true indicators of intelligence are the PRI and VCI scores, especially for 2E kids.

Has your DC had follow up tests to determine if DC has an LD?

If you did not submit WISC scores, what was the new information that you used for your appeal?

Parent letter and additional letters of recommendation. We went with the "whole child" approach to highlight DC's strong nonverbal abilities.

As suggested by others on DCUM, we looked at the behaviors listed on the GBRS. Our parent letter highlighted specific examples that we believe highlight DC's superior nonverbal abilities which are already indicated by the NNAT and the nonverbal portion of the FxAT. Letters of recommendation were from a neighbor who's known DC for 5+ years and whose own kids are profoundly gifted and a former teacher (no longer with FCPS).
