I'd rather American kids be able to access financial aid, and that not only those whose families can afford $90K a year are able to attend. Right now at all these schools, international students are subsidizing U.S. students.

PP again. This also has implications well beyond Harvard. What international student would want to study in the U.S. these days, if they know they can be sent home at a moment's notice? If you have a kid who will be attending college in the next few years--even if Harvard is not at all on your radar--and you cannot pay full freight, you should be very worried. This could drastically change admissions strategies at schools across the board.

My son studied in Italy last year. In the process of obtaining his student visa, we were informed of a list of actions that could get him “sent home at a moments” notice. Getting arrested was one of them.

So what? He was a guest in their country and has to play by their rules.

Again with the stupidity. What students got arrested to warrant getting kicked out of Harvard over the course of one afternoon??? This has nothing to do with the students and everything to do with Trump being a fascist dictator who thinks he can do whatever the hell he wants to whomever he wants.

Plenty of them have gotten themselves arrested for protesting and disturbing the peace. But I realize that is not the conversation here. Point is, countries set their own rules.

Sure, but In America the rule should not be that you don't get a student visa if you enroll at a university that won't let the president control the curriculum. That's what's happening here.

Trump wants this so badly to be among immigration and international students, but it's simply about him being a man-child, dictator who does criminal things wherever he can to get his way. Harvard said no to him so the international students pay.

To be accurate, the government’s stated reason for this action is that Harvard refused to provide international students’ disciplinary records.

Obviously, there’s a bigger agenda, but not an unreasonable request on its face.

Are you under the impression that Trump has even one iota of right to ask for that?

The government already has their application records which they submitted when they applied for a visa. If they broke the law, it's a matter of public record. Harvrd's private records are not!!!

Why not? The president was elected by the American people to serve our best interests.

And your best interest is served by Trump playing politics with a private university? How exactly?

Agree. It’s bc Harvard refused to discipline large swaths of international students.

That's because Harvard doesn't operate like Trump's Gestapo government.

Why is this a bad thing? These spots can go to American students. Is this a bad because it’s Trump?

Harvard does not care. It will now take illegal internationals to help their professors harass Jewish students.

If you care about rights and freedoms at all, you should be upset.

This is classic cerebral democratic response. James Carville would scream at you. So would Rahm.
It’s why we continue to lose tha national conversation.

And shows why Republicans have been defunding the Department of Education. If Americans are too dumb to realize that killing fundamental rights is bad, we're lost. And I fear it's too late.

Yup, while we use the immigrants as a scapegoat Chinese, Indian and European kids are getting a kick ass education and will surpass us in every way possible in the next 2-5 years. Congrats. Ain't we great already?

Harvard is getting a dose of its own medicine it has dished out to middle class American and led to its ruination. This is fantastic news 👍👍👍👍👍

We need to dismantle all of the ivory tower elitists that have destroyed the middle class. Harvard and all fo the elites demand our tax dollars while refusing to grant access to middle class America and use all of our taxpayer dollars to keep promulgating the elites in hoarding our nation's wealth. Go look up all of the politicians, lawyers, and bankers who've ruined us over the years. Almost always ivy trained scum.

+1.
Since Harvard is a private university, the cost is similar for full pay international and full American students. Harvard doesn’t lose any money because of this..

Don't worry, you're not subsidizing anything. All that middle class taxpayers cover with their tax payments is 1) interest on the debt, 2) Social Security payments for old people, and 3) payments to Medicare doctors, hospitals, and managed care companies. That's it. Everything else the government does is paid for with debt. Pretty soon your taxes will go 100% towards debt payments since the US is up to its eyeballs in debt and they are doubling it with the budget being passed RIGHT NOW.

Vomit- she’s awful.

Why is she being lauded? She’s a con artist plagiarist. She plagiarized a black, female academic.

Are you born outside the US? Are your children? Are you researchers? Employed by colleges?

Why the personal vitriol to others who disagree?

This isn’t a personal issue - unless you all have foreign-born children attending Harvard?
