Exactly. History tells us that a president with a 40% approval rating spells doom for their party in the present and during the next election cycle. The Dems could have run any bumbling fool against Trump and would have won in 2020 (which they did with Biden) and the GOP could have run any bumbling fool against Biden and/or his last minute replacement and would have won in 2024 (which they did with Trump).

Weakness breeds weakness. If we keep electing Trumps and Bidens, things will only get worse. Let's learn from our mistakes and stop repeating them.

Why do I feel like the Rs will not lose anymore elections. And not because they are so popular.

I’ve said this many times on Dcum but I will again. States run elections. The Feds do not. Musk and co cannot interfere in all of them.

Yep. Trump by 2028 will be as unpopular or even more unpopular than he was in 2020 and Biden was in 2024. If the GOP is stupid enough to nominate someone associated with Trump in 2028, their candidate will be as weak as Trump 2020 and Biden 2024 which will make for an easy Dem victory in the 2028 POTUS election. History repeating itself.

You’re assuming that with the weaponization of the FBI and DOJ that we will have free and fair elections in 2028. A lot of damage can be done to potential candidates and voting rights when people don’t agree to follow the law.

Local politicians oftentimes were much further left of center, vocally and actively amplifying already deeply unpopular policy positions and the spending that went along with them. It was a house of cards, but many left-wing major big city and progressive county/state leaders have yet to comprehend the extent to which their policies were, and continue to be, repudiated by the electorate, an electorate which could see for themselves the social and economic costs and the absence of promised benefits.

People are also getting sick of Republicans constantly lying and talking shit accusing Democrats of caring about nothing but trans issues and other crap when that is not even remotely the case. Maybe we need return the favor to start lying and attacking Republicans and start accusing them of unpopular stuff that they don't care about and isn't a priority for them.
